Thanks for the heads up on this one !

I called yesterday and the Premium in LR that is shown on their website is spoken for. However, the sales guy advised me that he has two more coming in, two weeks to 2 months time, and after I recvd the window sticker on both, I snagged one of them.

So, there in another ‘22 in LR, an off-road premium avail, or was yesterday, that’s pretty well loaded minus KDSS, msrp $48125.

    Regards,

WOW! Never thought I'd see the day when Longo would charge over msrp.

When the biggest Toyota dealer in the world starts marking vehicles up, we know its going to get bad.

That's disappointing. I talked with them last week and I thought they said no markup.

Looking to buy our first 4runner and this is not fun.

Your header says you're in the SF Bay area? This dealership is in Virginia.

Regardless, I ordered mine July 18th and it came in on September 24th, so about a two month turnaround. They only charged MSRP, and weren't super pushy about additional options. They did raise the price due to MSRP going up between order and delivery, but it was only about $60 so not a big deal and I didn't mention anything to them about it.

Yes, I’m in the Bay Area and have been searching far and wide. I also have a deposit with Longo in LA but they have not provided any time frame and no updates. They did say they would honor msrp. I guess whoever get’s to me first, they will get the deal.

Happy to say that Longo IS still selling at MSRP. Went in today and put a deposit down on a 22 ORP.

Here in Ottawa, Canada, MSRP is the maximum price, and most dealers who actually make you pay MSRP will throw in all kinds of goodies like winter mats or snow tires or whatever. My new SR5 was sticker at $50,270 CAD - exactly what you get on Toyota's website. I would gladly pay a premium for the vehicle if I had to, but I agree that is a terrible practice.

Update: Longo has informed me that my special order will be in the end of OCT. That vehicle has more of what I want and less of what I don’t want so I think I’m going to cancel my order in VA. If anyone wants my slot, PM me and I’ll put you in touch with my sales guy and hopefully we can make an easy transfer. They want a $500 refundable deposit to hold that allocation. That vehicle will be arriving in 4-8 weeks.

The VA vehicle is a ‘22 Off-road premium in lunar rock, pretty well loaded, $49754 is msrp. I have the window sticker if you wanna see it.

    Regards, Jonathan

Interesting. I just spoke to them about a 22 ORP last week and they were very upfront in saying they were not charging any markup over MSRP.

Had a similar conversation with them last week (maybe the week before) regarding the Pro and that I am not interested in paying over MSRP. However, got a call from them today that they are going to charge the premium. Unfortunately, someone will pay it.

How much above MSRP are they charging? I paid $2,000 above MSRP in May for LR Pro and thought that was fair given the market - Jim Coleman Toyota in Bethesda, MD.

$10k. Which seems to be the most common number I've heard. Wife wants the LR so I would possibly consider something small, like $2k, but there are other dealers out there not charging above so will just wait. The 05 Murano still has some miles left in her.

Just put down a deposit on a 2022 SR5 premium at Laural Toyota in Johnstown PA. Paid MSRP. Other dealers in my area are marking up anywhere from 4-10 thousand above sticker. Johnstown is a hour and a half from me but worth the drive obviously.

My self imposed limit was $3,000 above MSRP for the 2021 LR Pro in May. So, I thought $2,000 above was a fair deal since they were becoming very rare about that time. I knew and they knew, they could easily sell it for $5,000 above MSRP immediately and probably $10,000 above MSRP if they were patient. But, this dealership and several others (probably 50% of the local dealers) said they did not sell above MSRP for the Pro's - that all changed! I fully understand how supply and demand works! Look at the current housing market throughout the US. Who is bargaining from a position of power? I was close to just bagging it and waiting for a 2022 or buying a Pro in the MGM color if available. I got lucky and am glad a LR happened to fall in my lap!

This may be a long wait, but I’m just gonna wait till i can find a Lime Rush Pro at MSRP. I’ve had contact with a few dealers and within a month conversation has changed from no markup to markup…..I can wait.

I would recommend people start looking at small dealers in the middle of nowhere. I picked up my lunar rock pro at MSRP in a small town in Nebraska last month.
No BS and great communication. Flew in and drove it back home to California 1500 miles and well worth it because I saved well over $10k vs. buying it in California.

I placed a deposit for a 22 Tacoma for MSRP at Longo.

Longo does not markup new cars. I believe John Elway's Crown Toyota in Ontario, California also does not. But Longo sales people do a better job of managing inventory. They know what is available and what is coming in within a 30 day window. Crown Toyota was a little "foggy" or maybe just the salesperson I was working with, but he had no idea what was reserved or sold.

Also had the same experience with Crown. Super uninformed with any inventory, kept saying all their cars were reservation only but would not take my deposit

That's why I placed a deposit with Longo. They keep me informed of the build and provide a general idea of when to expect the car. In this crazy market, MSRP is what you can expect from some hot selling models like the 4Runner and Tacoma. And I am content with Longo for that. The sales person also stays with you throughout most of the sales process, including if you have a trade. There are some dealers that would not get back to me on a new car sale, but were aggressive in trying to buy my trade in. Long story short, Longo is more than fair for the current market.

Toyota of Portsmouth (https://www.toyotaofportsmouth.com/) wants 2k over MSRP for market adjustment.

So, let me get this straight, isnt the market adjustment bringing the sale price upto MSRP? For me, invoice pricing is about what I expected to pay pre shortage, now they want an additional 2k, plus the difference from MSRP and Invoice.

Needless to say, told them not willing to pay over MSRP. On to the next internet sales person.

Yeah man trust me its worth it. I was worried about getting it registered but it was really easy, I was in and out of the DMV in 30 minutes ( couldn't believe it )
As long as you have all your documents and smog check ready you should be good. Plus I made a little road trip out of picking up the 4runner, instead of shipping it.

For you guys that ordered with Longo recently, do you have a sales contact you can share that helped you? Currently looking at picking up a 22 ORP for a new project to replace my fully built 09 Tacoma that I'm planning to sell off if I can get into a 4runner.

I originally went with Ken Tang but I randomly went in and it was his day off so someone else helped me because they happened to have what I wanted coming in and I didn't want to miss out. I think her name was Patty Gutierrez
