I would like to add a OEM TPMS sensor to my 20 Venture since I do 5 wheel rotations and when the "spare" wheel is on the TPWS light turns on and there is an error messages on the screen with none of the PSI for any of the tires showing up. Kind of annoying to drive like that.
Does anyone know if I buy this OEM TPMS and follow the instructions on page 425 of the manual to register the sensors, will the new sensor work? I would have to re-register every time I do rotation but that's not a big deal if it works.

On my 2017 Limited, the spare has a TPMS in it. However, I have learned that the Toyota computer only reads four TPMS codes at a time. When I had my stock Limited wheels, the spare was a duplicate of one of the other codes. When I bought winter wheels and tires, I cloned all five wheels with four codes. Four unique codes and the spare is a duplicate of one of the others.

    Big picture is summer codes are 1, 2, 3, 4, 1 and winter codes are cloned to the same 1, 2, 3, 4, 1.

The manual page you posted is an update to my 2017, but I do not know if the TPMS computer can now read five codes. If not, get a programmable TPMS and set the code to one of the other four.

I don't think the computer can read/store 5 codes on ORP/Venture. I was thinking that the new TPMS code from the spare wheel will replace one of the codes already programmed once the spare is installed and sensors are re-registered.

On mine, the magic electrons go out and read up to four specific codes. On my Acura, it reads specifically the corner position, but will read any Acura TPMS code. If on yours, you add a fifth TPMS and program it per the manual, I don't know if it will duplicate a current code (good) or delete a current code and replace it with the new code and leave you with still four working (bad).

The dealer or a good tire shop may be able to answer. My tire shop has programmable TPMS sensors and just popped the fifth in and programmed it to one of the others. That was easy and less expensive than the Toyota OEM sensor.

Anyway to delete the tpms completely?

Just an update. On my 2020 the through dash tpms programming flawlessly. The error appeared when I installed the 5th wheel with the new tpm just as expected. Went through the steps on pg425 and after driving for 10 mins or so the new sensor was registered and everything is working as it should.

Great that it worked. It usually takes a little driving to wake up the sensors.

I found out my 2017 Limited does have five codes, so I ave the codes, but not the dashboard software you have to update.

Check with any of the local tire places. Discount tire did mine when I replaced my wheels and tires, they had to manually remove all prior sensors then add the new ones back in. I was told that it will support 5 sensors (2016 Trail Premium) but I have not validated that yet. I went with 285s, and I'm about to add a spare that's 285 as well that I will rotate in once I get a rear mounted carrier to get the spare out from under.
