    Dobinsons Lift Installed

2.7” Front – 1.7” Rear – Little bit off at driver’s side. The ride is outstanding, freeway, City, bumps different speeds no vibrations no noises, tracking on the freeway perfect.

Next week Tuesday Bf Goodrich 285/70/17 KO 2 - E 10 ply – Will post pictures.

In a month going to Moab – More pictures.

Thank you all guys, for your advice and help, I truly appreciate it.

    Nice!!!!

Any aftermarket skid plates? It looks like you're rocking some sliders. Just wondering how yours compares to a stock truck in terms of added weight.

Looks good, I really like the nautical blue. If I was gonna get a dark color, that would be my first choice.

Friend just did Dobinsons but his coils were Teal colored. Was there a choice in color? Dig the blue 4R.

This is not meant as a criticism, but why is it that everybody wants to lift with the intention of leveling the truck?

I promise you that even with the slightest load the ass and will sag.

I always keep a little bit of a rake, nowhere near as aggressive as factory.

It looks like his truck has about 1.5" of rake, but I agree. Mine has exactly 1" as it sits now and it looks a bit goofy to me.

Well, maybe the pictures are not all the way correct, hence, the truck has front rake its not level. We all have different likes. For me its the ground clearence which is important; I go multiple times a year to Moab rock-crawling. Did this for the last 26 years multiple times a year with different vehicles. This is my first 4runner; I'm sure it will do when I'm done with the mods.

    That’s good.

I have installed a spacer lift, a 5100 lift, now an ICON lift, I have played with a variety of combination of leveling and rake, and maybe I use mine a lot more for hauling that you do, but was just offering my two cents.

And you never install your last lift until you sell your truck, lol.

I think people use the term "leveling" and "lifting" synonymously a lot of times.

I've noticed a lot of people say something like "Just leveled my truck with a 1" lift up front" when in reality, that's not actually level.

If it's level, the front and rear are an even height. A 1" lift in the front of our trucks still leaves you with some rake, therefore it's not level.

@Roland did you get new UCAs or are those stock? I have a 2.5/1.5 Dobinsons on the way and debating between upgrading my UCAs.

No, UCA's are not needed (stock). I added Bf Goodrich KO 2 C rated 285/70/17 I have a 4" lift with the tires. I just came back from a trip to Moab and put the rig to the task. No problems in any way, checked everything good. Did you buy coils & shocks? Dobinsons IMS59-50700 shocks - coils C59-302 Front - Dobinsons shocks IMS59-50705 - Coils C59-505 Rear. The shocks are incredible.

I'm on stock size C Rated KO2s, you nailed it, Front - Coil: C59-302, Strut: IMS59-50700 Rear- Coil:C59-505, Shock: IMS59-50705. I'm looking to just get 2.5" front/1.5" rear.

For 2.5" the coil seat on the IMS59-50700 shocks should be set at 213mm (8.38") from the middle of the strut bushing eye.
Assemble the coil-over first, pay attention to the seat. Before you take the old coil-overs off, look at the orientation, make sure you put the new set the same way, left and right are set different on the 4R, look at the pigtail on the seat on the OEM's. Use an Allen ranch to tighten, if not the rod will spin, bushings need to be compressed tight.

Mike from exitoffroad.com has a good video on this setup; small details do count.

Good luck & post some pictures when done.

Roland and fffff, have you guys had any significant settling in measured lift height after running the Dobinsons setup for a while?

Im trying to finalize my suspension decision, and am a bit gun-shy... Some kits like Ironman seem to come in a good deal higher than adverstised, and others seem to settle a lot.

I put my Dobinsons lift to task off-road & on an extremely bumpy road at high speed (230 miles, almost full blast). No sagging, no problems. Lift height the same as installed. Seriously, I’m extremely pleased. Believe me, I’m picky. Right now 3700 miles with the lift.

regarding your 314 front springs, do you have a bumper/winch, or is it stock weight. If you do have a bumper/winch, how much did it settle?

Thanks for the info Roland. Do you have any extra weight in the front? Also, how were alignment number as to the all-important caster with the stock UCAs?

    Your welcome,

Lift: Dobinsons IMS59-50700 shocks - coils C59-302 Front - Dobinsons shocks IMS59-50705 - Coils C59-505 Rear. 2.7" front lift (shocks adjustable set at 215mm from the strut bushing eye to support a 2.7” front lift). No Upper Control Arms needed, with the 285/70/17 installed about a 4" lift; works wonders. Call Mike great guy, lots of knowledge. Highly recommended.

I don't have any weight. In case I would add additional equipment, I could still adjust the shocks and go to 3" front lift, the shocks can be adjusted up to 3.5".

Another posibility for added weight would be to go with a heavier spring (Dobinsons C59-350 Front Lifted Coil Springs - Heavy Load 160-240LBS). In case you would go this road talk to Mike. I can only speak for my experience.

My caster settings are a bit positive, don't have the number, alignment shop lost the info, computer error I was told.
