FedEx delivery sucks. I usually try not to use them but I ordered a bunch of stuff from Wallyworld and it promised a Saturday delivery. I waited as long as I could and figured they would just drop it off at the door like UPS and USPS does. At 4:30 I had to leave for about an hour and of course a short while later they showed up and then left without leaving the packages. Why they don't give a time at least within a few hours when they will deliver is beyond me. They gave me a 12 hour window. I will do my best to never use them again if I can help it. They are worse than the cable guy. Now I have to wait until Monday and hope they get here before I leave for work. Rant off!

I'm the same way except with UPS. I won't order anything shipped via UPS. I had them "lose" a 700+ dollar order I had placed with RTIC. It made it to their distribution facility in the city I live in but never left the facility and they had no idea where it went. It took about 3 months and a ton of phone calls to get it taken care of. I feel your pain.

Can't you ask them to hold it at their facility and go pick it up whenever?

The place they hold it at is over an hour away. We used to have a place here but it was heavily damaged by Florence and now just ships thinks out.

These places ship millions and millions of packages a year give them a break. If they left your stuff and it was stolen then you would be mad at who? I believe(??) you can authorize them to leave it with nobody signing for it however if it's stolen it's obviously on you.

I don't think anyone said anything about them leaving things and having them get stolen....I did however say that something I ordered went missing from their distribution center. I would give them a break if UPS was the only delivery service. But they're not so I choose to give my business to someone else.

Signup for Fedex Delivery Manager. It will tell you when a label is created, a days notice of when it will be delivered, when it is out for delivery, delivery attempts and probably more. Also, You can sign for packages online unless it was shipped signature in person. Check it out - can't hurt and may help. I've used it for a number of years. It lets me know whenever a package is being sent to my address. Don't work for them but use it because I find it useful. UPS has something similar.

So let me get this straight. You want a set delivery window for a delivery which a driver is running around with tons of other places to go with tons of variables.

Next we gonna hear they gave me a 1 hour window and didn't make it in time rants. Can't please everyone.

An 11 hour delivery window is ridiculous. I would have no issue with a 4 to 6 hour window. In this day and age they should be able to at least give you that. I also would have no issue with them leaving the package at my door which they didn't for some unknown reason. You cannot see the lower half of my door from the street. I got nothing to indicate why the packages were not left. I finally received notice at 8:30 at night that they had been to my house.

that is up to the shipper if they can leave them not FedEx, as mentioned above call FedEx and authorize them to drop off with no signature if possible. These guys are driving huge routes with hundreds of individual stops, give them a break on the window they give you.

I think the sender may also indicate whether the packages can be left or not. If your ordering a 200.00 pair of Bose ear phones I'm sure they would want them signed for so they do not have a 1,000 claims a year for replacement "lost" (stolen) orders.

As stated above its on the shipper not FedEx if they can leave it at the door. Might as well say UPS sucks too since they do the same thing.

FedEx and UPS both have options if you are looking for more control over delivery times, they both however are add ons that will increase your shipping cost

    FedEx:

FedEx Delivery Manager®: flexible options for residential deliveries
FedEx Delivery Manager is a suite of options that provides U.S.-based recipients with convenience, flexibility and features to customize deliveries to their homes while packages are in transit, helping recipients avoid the inconvenience of missed deliveries. It's available for package deliveries in the U.S.*

With FedEx Delivery Manager, recipients benefit from:

    • Visibility into packages being delivered to or recently shipped from their home address, without the need for a tracking number or FedEx account number. Only sign-up is required. You can also request updates on the status of your shipments every step of the way, via email, SMS text and/or phone. Available for FedEx Express®, FedEx Ground®, FedEx Home Delivery® and FedEx SmartPost® shipments (shipment-status notifications are not available with FedEx SmartPost).
    • Options that help you control where and when packages are delivered. Options you can request include:
      • Schedule your delivery. Select a date, a time, or a date and time combination that fits your schedule, after the original delivery commitment date and time.** Available for most residential addresses (including Alaska and Hawaii) served by FedEx Express and FedEx Home Delivery, for packages originating from and delivered within the U.S.
        • Delivery on a specific date: Request delivery on a specific business day within 7 calendar days after the original scheduled delivery date. The original delivery commitment time applies.
        • Delivery at a specified time: Request delivery between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. by the original scheduled delivery date.
        • Delivery on a specific date at a specified time: Request delivery on a specific date and within a specified time period. You choose a 2-hour window between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. (for FedEx Express) or between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. (for FedEx Home Delivery), on a business day within 7 calendar days on or after the original scheduled delivery date

I got the packages yesterday afternoon. Apparently one was signature required which explains why it wasn't left, my bad, but the other was supposed to have been a drop off. Not sure why it wasn't but oh well.

Delivery services earn a lot of money ! And at the same time they do their job disgustingly! With the onset of the pandemic, the situation is getting worse. Many delivery services argue the loss of parcels with a large amount of work. But damn it - hire more workers and do your job efficiently. I often order parcels from Aliexpress. And I constantly monitor their delivery to sendungsverfolgungpost.de. Because this is the only way to make claims to the delivery service in time and receive compensation for damage.

FedEx lost a rifle in transit. It said it was at the distribution center for weeks. I went there and the employee showed me a giant pile of packages and said I could sift through them...

I work for FedEx and ever since the start of Covid on line ordering has exploded, we are trying to keep up but we can't get people to stay more than a couple of weeks. When the millenials realize you have to lift heavy boxes and hustle, they quit. Don't last very long and there is only so much the drivers still working can do, they're burnt out. I've been here for 28years and even I'm stressed and looking for a change

I believe it. I go out of my way to wave at drivers, or if they are getting gas or something to actually tell them "thanks". They perform a vital service and are grossly underappreciated by a public that has no fucking idea what they do. Locally those guys make $15 an hour. Highest rate regionally is in Columbus which is still only $21 an hour. They aren't even corporate employees, mostly ... many are working for a contractor and depending on the size of that contractor they may not even get health insurance. Always gotta drive like every other asshole on the road is looking to get into a crash with you and sue. All that plus a bunch of entitled fucking Karens getting pissed that their meal prep is 42 minutes late for delivery and that the tape on the box is slightly peeled back...

I live in Memphis, near Fedex world headquarters. Every 3rd person I know works for Fedex or has someone close that does. A few are even pilots.

One guy mentioned there were 25000 workers short for the holiday surge. I asked how many normally work the airport in Memphis and he said normally 75000 but they are about 40-50k and it's hurting them.

That is a whole lot of workers at an airport, and it's crazy to think they are the population of the town I grew up in short in workers.

For the most part. Drivers can also opt to redeliver packages if they feel it's not safe (think likely to be stolen) to leave a package in plain sight of the street. The last two deliveries I was left a notice for when I wasn't home, the driver both times came back later, one after dark, in what looked like their own personal vehicle to deliver it later the same day. Neither UPS or FedEx has ever in their history given specific times of delivery for ground service. Considering the millions of packages they handle, I'd say they do a good job. No one will get everything right 100% of the time.

Agreed. I’ve had so many packages just stuck/sitting at one location for days with no movement. So frustrating. Never had such issues with UPS.
