If I have a remote start installed in my 2019 4Runner by someone else, is my warranty still valid?

Unless it’s related to the work they did yes. Generally it’s fine unless they buthered the wiring, which unfortunately isn’t uncommon.

sorry that you made a very bad decision to install a remote starter from a aftermarket company.
many have had vehicle problems alarms and remote starters installed by non OEM companies.. dealership most likely will say its your problem .. many installs do not use the proper connectors when wiring it up then a total mess.

I spent the $ and had it installed when new at the dealer for this reason. It was like 150.00 off to install at delivery if you take it home new and literally do the remote a week later (by the selling dealership) you don't get the 150.00 off. That's what they told me at the time.

Not sure why warranty is such a confusing thing.

Unless dealer can prove your aftermarket stuff is the cause of whatever problem you have it will be covered. You cannot just lose your warranty completely just because of a remote start.

I haven’t had a remote start installed yet. The dealership wanted $499 to add it and didn’t seem to want to bother with it the day I bought it. The price was too high anyway. I think it was my “sign”!

have the dealership do it . try to get the price down . if the wiring is messed with by a aftermarket installer it can be a bad day with electrical problems.

The good thing about a Toyota dealer doing it is it mostly like won't void any warranties.

Having an aftermarket shop do it and having them mess up the electrical can be a problem.

I think I’ll try to get the price down, but I don’t think I intimidate them much

I agree that having the dealer do it would be best. if you do go aftermarket. Do your research and make sure the shop you are going to has a good name. My first car had electrical work done at a cheap radio shop. What a mess that was. My alarm use to go off all the time while I was driving. Took it to the dealership and they showed me the problem those guys from the radio shop left my wiring looking like a rats nest. Avoid cheap places!

You won't have any issues with warranty if you go to a reputable installer. Who do you think does the work for some dealerships? You could even have the system removed before going in for warranty work if it ever got to it. There are authorized installers for different brands but most are sold by the same company, DEI or Firstech. I choose a Firstech product by having an Artic Start system put in. So far im very happy with it. I think i paid a little less than what your dealer quoted you but i also got a 2 way communication system which means i get a confirmation that the signal was recieved and car is started up to a mile away. I also had them program my factory key fob to be able to be used. I can also upgrade to the web/app based feature if i desire but for now, no need. Just be clear of your expectations when you call around and get quotes. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I installed the accessorides plug and play remote start module in our 2019 4 Runner when it had less then 100mi on it. It's all piggy back connections, no splicing, and uses the factory fob. It works great, not the longest distance, but it's cold here a lot, and my wife wanted to be able to start it from inside her work when coming home. My dealer just has a local company install an aftermarket system anyways.

My brother in-law came to visit us in the Bahamas a few months ago. He has a $85,000 F110 pick up. He could start-up the F110 from Nassau while the truck was in a driveway in Northern NY. Can a 4runner do that?

The apt gave him all the data on the truck - including RPMs, engine temp. - everything you can think of.

It tells him if the truck gets stolen too. Sends him an alarm/notice.

Scotty Kilmer the mechanic on Youtube who has had 900 million views likes the F150. He doesn't like other Fords, but he likes the F150.

Kilmer drives and owns only Toyota brand vehicles. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...9EA8FE237EA09C79387F9EA&view=detail&FORM=VIRE

Why would you ever want to start your vehicle from a distance very far away? Most remote starts will automatically shut off the truck after 10 minutes of the key ISNT inserted of fob
    Detected within vicinity..

Dealer can absolutely say no to you whenever they want. If someone were to feel that they’re being wronged they can go to a different dealer or it’s on THEM to break the piggy bank and hire a lawyer because it gets expensive.
Yes the dealer will have to prove that the part caused the malfunction, but going down that road when they initially say no can become very spendy and it’s a huge misconception on here thinking you can just show up and demand new cookies because yours were burnt.

Accessorides plug and play. No splicing, 100% reversed if needed, and works great
