Anyone removed front and rear bumper valence for good?

Dont like the look, thinking of getting rid of. I know there will be some holes left, maybe I can fill. Any thoughts. Has anyone done it? Pics?

 

Not sure about the front, but I've been without the rear valance since last August due to an off-roading incident. I originally planned on fixing it, but it doesn't bother me enough to do anything about it.

Here's a picture so you can at least get an idea how the bumper looks without it.

Find someone with the same color SR5 and swap? They don't have valences or holes to fill and I'm sure someone would want to trade

It’s interesting that the off-road has them and it’s the first thing that gets knocked off when off roading. Glad I got a SR5.

 

I think you would have been fine since your sr5 only ever goes to the mall

 

Toyota apparently thinks these lovely silver valances are so desirable they've included them on the 6th gen...

 

I wonder if some body clips could pop into the holes. It would give a slightly cleaner look than having 10 oval openings.

Thanks for the ideas. I dont think I am ok with taking my bumpers off for this. But I do like the look despite the holes, thanks for the pics. I guess I could use some tape or white stickers. Will give the front one a shot while Im doing the vier cut.

 

Wait, you're not ok with taking your bumpers off and replacing it with essentially the same thing without holes, but you are ok with a viper cut?

Another option would be getting a vinyl wrap with the same footprint as the removed valance in the color of your choice.

 

Or you could color match the valence

Yeah something like that, I might leave the holes aline even will add some character. Maybe I should just get a winch bumper and avoid the problems all together

 

You sound a little bitter that you’re stuck with the SR5.

 

Not sure about the front bumper but the rear is quite easy to remove and reinstall.

 

I havent looked it up but the front has the radar stuff not sure would need calibration.

 

As someone said you could color match it. Take it off paint it etc. IMO go ahead and Plasti Dip it. . . If you plasti dip it, it's gotta be pink with Yellow Polka Dots. All the cool kids do that now. I plasti Dipped mine black till I figure out if I am going to remove them for full armor. Not a ton of difficult off road tracks in Illinois but the surrounding states do. Plenty of mudding in fields and on farms that don't require full armor.

 

Come up to Tigerton with the Wisconsin crew sometime. . We'll help you rationalize that armor purchase.

Plenty of fun, easy stuff for a stock truck, and plenty of side trails to put the armor to good use.

Not at all. I’m actually thankful that I had the wisdom to pick the trim that would meet all of my vehicle needs.

 

I’m not sure if I should be flattered or creeped out that you are tracking my whereabouts.

 

You really do sound like you regret your purchase which is probably why you started putting down other peoples purchases. Nothing wrong with an SR5. Just enjoy what you have and don't slam other peoples choices. Makes you look a bit sad.

 

Just a note:

I don't think the rear valance is going to come off without removing the bumper cover. When mine got damaged last year, I ended up removing the bumper cover to remove the clips. It's not bad. There's a few screws and bolts, and it pretty much peels right off.

The front bumper is also easy to remove and reinstall. I can't say with certainty whether or not TSS would need to be recalibrated. But, I haven't heard of it being an issue. Hopefully some folks who have pulled the covers off of newer models can comment on this.

Yeah I think it will look like it fel of and you were to cheap to replace it. Paint it to match, if anything

 

Front bumper removal shouldn’t need recalibration. Mine’s been fine. That said, I think it’s possible to f up the wiring to the sensor if not careful when working in that area. I almost tore mine off once because I didn’t really think through what was going to happen once I started yanking on it to pull it off. I thought the sensor was free after removing a million clips, but it actually wasn’t.
