You even Costco bro?

Head shaker, head scratcher today at Costco gas station. The hoses reach to the other side, so it doesn’t matter which side you go on.Giving 4Runner owners a bad name.

 

At not so "nice" Costco's/gas stations i will only pump from driver. But 100%, those hoses at Costco are super long and reach from ether side. Seems most people don't relies this.

 

What exactly are we suppose to be seeing in that photo??

 

What I was thinking too. The pump seems to be on the driver side of the 4r where the gas fill is on the same side as the pump.

 

Come on man. He entered the wrong way.

Anyways, while the hose does reach I don't want to hold the hose or run it across the body.

 

I pull on the left side at Costco all the time. The contour of the tail light holds the hose fairly well. And people line up to get their vehicles on the right side of the island. Left is almost always open.

 

I had no idea they were one way. I’m not allowed to have a Costco card for obvious economic reasons.

 

I'd go in the out if I could reverse the price of gas....

Many of us don't buy gas at Costco. It would never dawn on me that there was a gas station that only allowed one-way traffic. What a moronic design.

 

There are A LOT of gas stations here in the land of fruits, nuts and wildfires that are one way only.

 

Well like most parking lot planners, our local CC gas station is stuck in a corner.
The suicide jockey's that deliver the motion lotion have a cramped space to maneuver in but, in true professional skill, they get it done.

 

Same reaction. I'm Costco-averse so I don't know the rules or mores. Then I figured, okay treat it like puzzle before I scroll down. Aha! The arrow on the ground goes the other way. For shame. FOR SHAME!

 

4onto you are a very smart man! The big Chevy was blocking most of the view. Plus I was trying to be stealth taking the photo. But yeah, trying to make it a puzzle. Costco gas stations are one way in, one way out. It's actually very efficient if people know what they're doing. As mentioned before, the pump hoses are more than long enough to reach across.

 

Yep Costco's are one-way, have painted arrows, words, everyone facing one way, and to cap it off the exit is marked with Do Not Enter signs so you have to either miss or ignore all of them to go against traffic.

I'm sure plenty of folks would love to go in-the-out even if it didn't affect the price of anything!

Yup. I don’t let the hose touch the body. Easy to pull in on either side with my Tacoma and just go over the bed.

 

Never seen a one way gas station in my life. Learned something new.

When there are 24 total pumps on 8 lanes and more cars waiting, one way is the only way that makes any sense.

Costco could be described in many ways, but "moronic design" is not one of them. Everything inside and outside the store is carefully designed with efficiency and traffic flow in mind.

 

I'll agree to disagree. All I can see one-way pumps doing is causing indecision for cars as they are slowing down and exiting busy roadways and entering crowded parking lots. People seem to figure it out just fine at the "any way" gas stations I go to, no matter how busy.

 

All the Costco gas stations I've used enter and exit within the Costco parking lot, not city streets. There's one way in and one way out, and both are clearly marked.

 

Have you been to a Costco on a Saturday? Have you ever seen a gas station that busy? I haven't in my million miles + of driving commercially.

Can't agree to disagree here. For example, Buc-ee's is widely considered to move the most gas per day by utilizing over 100 fueling pumps. But Costco can move 3+ times the amount of gas on less than half the pumps at each station. Costco alone sells 5% of all US gas.

It's always easier to flow in one direction with the proper strategy. It eliminates any inconsistencies or confusion. Not that it's hard to get gas like you said, but to be able to move large volumes of vehicles fast and efficiently when your gas is very popular at an extremely busy place is massively important and is not left to chance, it's a science.

Even think of it this way.

Gas station 1, one way. 100% chance of pulling up and pumping gas no matter what side your fill up is on.
Gas station 2, has a 50% chance of having the fill on the wrong side so you either wait or swing around to get your fill up side on the correct side.

 

Telling someone they are not allowed to disagree with you is mindboggling. I sort of stopped reading at that point.
