Looking to get a pair of window visors/deflectors/rain guards for my 4runner (all 4 windows) and wondering if there's a consensus on the best option?

I naturally went to weathertech, and they've got the set for $160 CDN.

Initially I very much like/prefer the in-window visors as I didn't really want to use stick-on visors... but I've also never used them before so not sure which is better? I've heard the in-window can cause issues for the window up power function is that an outdated problem or still present?

I've been using AVS in-channel vent visors on all our SUV's since 1997, never any problems with rolling windows up or anything else for that matter, including the visors on my 2019 4Runner.

I used AVS in channel on my taco, no issues with them at all. Just ordered AVS in channel for my 4Runner (arrives Wednesday).

Looks like AVS gets recommended a bunch, then!

I just looked it up and it seems they have in-channel, stick on, and low profile (which I think are also stick on?)

    Stick on vs in-channel...?

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
I have the Weathertech in channel on mine and I have no complaints. There is an increase in wind noise though. It's not terrible but be aware that it is there.

I got the regular AVS. Came in damaged. Returned and got the in-channel version. Again came in scratched. Sent it back for another in-channel and yup, came with nice scratches all over one of the second visor. I'm done with AVS. The way they do the packaging is dumb. When you get it inspect it carefully to insure there are no scratches/scuff marks, specially on the second visor from the top.

I have AVS equivalents, Wades, on my FJ. Been on there for 10 years with no issues.
I have Weathertechs on my new 4Runner. Not crazy about the noise the windows make squeezing into the channel up top. .
Wind noise all depends on the day. One day I find the damn things noisy at 60mph, the next days I'm wizzing down the road at 85 with nary a sound.

I've got the Weathertechs on my '20. Just like the ones on my '08, you should consider using "industrial strength" 3M double sided tape on the rear ones because that's all that holds them in. The fronts are a combination of tape and tension. I find the super thin 2 sided tape for the rears quickly degrades and they drop out of the channel, particularly at highway speeds.

Have weather tech in channels on my taco. Enjoying them other than the fact that sometimes in hear the glass and wind guards chatter a slight bit because they are “sharing the channel”

Had AVS on my 4th gen with no issues. Have the AVS Low Profile on my 5th, again with no complaints. Something to note with the low profiles though, you can't put the window down as far when it's raining.

I just bought a WeatherTech 4-piece set for my 2019 4Runner Limited. I had them, second hand, on a 2019 Tundra; I liked them and had them in and out and back in without issue. I would like for them to work on this vehicle.

But, luckily, I didn't peel the tape off of the back two because I am thinking of sending them back. On the fronts, I have a driver's side window that won't go all the way up - not stuck open too far but far enough to be a problem - no matter how much and how many times I adjusted it. On the passenger's side, my auto window won't go up and comes back down - still the same after 10+ up-and-down cycles.

    Can anyone help, please?

^^^ I had that happen on my Forester and Buick. Go Slowwwww.
Unless the visor is a defect it will work...be sure to keep them up for a day after rolled up.

Take it out and try over

I have always used AVS. Just make sure to prep the tape locations before putting them on. Scuff with the supplied pad, clean with the supplied alcohol prep pad, then use an adhesion promoter pad which you'll have to buy elsewhere.

My thought/alternative was to go to a brand like AVS and do the adhesion. But these are really nice, even if only the front are non-adhesive - of course only if they work!

Also have much luck with AVS on several vehicles.. add a little wind noise but benefits outweigh this,E5CE2725-FF5D-4E17-9081-A4A15BFC2327.jpg
