Wifey Doesn’t Like My Raptor Lights

If you keep those lights on your rig, we're gonna have to pull your man-card and evict you from the United States of Texas.

 

Meh, I’m indifferent to them. If they were smaller and integrated nicer, I think I’d like them more. But they seem to be either too large looking (to fill the diamond grill mesh) or small but held on with cheap ass zipties.

Between that and all the issues I’ve heard of with them burning out, I’d probably pass.

 

On a positive note, he'll never be plagued by the knowledge that only some of them work.

 

Hate raptor lights and that name.
They look cheap, out of place and mostly run by people that are deficient in other areas .

 

You're in Texas. Just look at your wife with your best loving look, say "Well, bless your heart", then do whatever the hell you want.

 

Your wife has great instincts. Yes, Raptor lights are dumb.

They're so played out, one night a while back I had what I was certain was a Tacoma or 4R coming at me, when we passed I was shocked to see that it was an actual Raptor.

I actually wanted to get a heritage style grill for my 2013, however I refuse to because they all have Raptor lights built in.

 

Your wife has great taste. Raptor lights on non raptor vehicles are pure trash

I lost my vanity years ago, now I get excited about an oil change. There are a few advantages to getting older.

 

Wow, a lot of responses. After reading through them later Monday afternoon, I decided to remove the lights. Here’s the new pics, post Raptor light removal.

The thing that really tripped my trigger was learning here that this is a Ford thing. Lol…. OK well so much for that idea.

I have all the parts, good as new. The wire harness was never installed. If anyone wants this kit, let me know here and we can make arrangements to get it to you. You can have it for the cost of the postage. Here’s a couple pics of all the parts together Monday afternoon after I removed the lights from the grill. There’s 6 small Phillips head screws included, just not pictured here, but they will come in the package.

 

You know the yellow, orange and red color scheme is from a Renegade CJ7, right? I believe the Bronco of the time also offered it.

 

As a new owner to a 5th gen, I'm beginning to adopt a less is more approach to our truck. Before I purchased, I wanted Raptor lights, black out emblems, Toyota TRD Pro Grille, TRD Wheels, etc... For some reason, I'm liking the chrome on our TRD ORP as I find it is more unique in my area. I also am happy with our TRD ORP wheels more than I thought I would. The irony is I don't have to do a single thing and I save money.

I tinted the windows, installed cool white leds (Dynamic Diodes) all around, and did the center console glove box organizer setup... At only 815 miles now, about the only other mods I'm interested in now are electronics:
- All Around Cam Mod
- Speaker Upgrade
- Remote Start
- Dash Cam (factory location version)

I'm completely content with the looks and the mechanical parts of the vehicle for now.

 

Well, TOYOTA also uses the yellow, orange, and red colors. I don't know who started doing it first, Jeep, or TOYOTA. I'm going to keep that badge on my grill.

 

Nope, no ladder on my T4R, lol. I also actually wish it didn't have those roof rack rails up there on the roof.

Hope you feel better now, complains about folks stating they don’t like something, then name calls.

 

You gotta do what you like. I don’t even care what my wife thinks about me. I certainly wouldn’t care what she thinks about an accessory I installed on my vehicle.

 

When you're considering buying something for your truck, ask yourself, "Is this a modification... or a decoration?"

 

Good advice , at least to my personal thought process. I got raptor lights as a modification, not decoration.

Here is an idea for that empty Grill, @Bob will love it.

 

My wife didn't like them on my 2018 TRD OR & not on my 2023 TRD Pro, but guess what, it's mine & I do what mods I want. Don't care what anyone else likes unless they're paying for it.
She's keeping her BMW 230i stock & I don't care., although she has recently asked about window tinting.
Her's is white too & I told her i : 1. for security that dirt bags don't know who's sitting behind that door, 2.what's inside when sitting out in public & 3. keeps the dam sun out when driving & not parked in our garage too.

The yellow, orange, and red TOYOTA badge is enough.

But if you want to break up the black get some white pinstriping and experiment on the black trim bar.

 

What about a Raptor sticker, or a blue oval on the grill?

 

@Rick G. What about topo-ing the bar? Much finer lines than my fat finger but you get the idea
