Oof! Late start today...Up per usual 0430-0500 totally ice covered morning pretty much everywhere. Flipped on the news and crashes on all main roads & interstates :annoyed: So nothing to do, but to go back to bed! Honey is now considering her ride to work and me w/my YakTracks wandered around and took the trash out...sun is out and what was a very quiet morning now has the sounds of cracking ice and flowing water...like a LOT of flowing water HA! Looks to be a grand day and sure hope you all have a terrific one! ENJOY

Nope, I kinda learned to use maps and compass on the fly as a backpacker who also liked to find hidden fishing spots well off any trail for a week or more.

On a related map note, I spent about 3 hours over 2 days to get my wife’s 24 Acadia’s android auto’s google maps to work. Very long story short apparently a recent update for android auto changed settings on her cars screen. I was sure it was her 4 yr old phone or the phone app, but nope.

'Morning old farts.. a sign of age must be waking up and feeling a little tired. I don't mean waking up and feeling tired after staying awake to 4 AM, I mean like around thursday after a good night sleep, waking up and knowing that if you don't have a cup or two, the day might drag on forever! When I was in 'the band', many times we would just be getting home around 4 or 5 in the morning, lay down and nap for a couple of hours, bing! felt like new, now days, usually in bed by 8:00-8:30pm, awake @4:00am, but by thursday afternoon.. boom! I'm sure it's in everyone's best interest that I DON'T take a nap while driving the dump truck, getting out of the truck and walking around a bit will help, heat off, window down a crack, I got this! A customer ordered 900 ton of lime, that's 40-45 loads, I'm the only fulltime driver, I know what I'm doing for a while! You guys have a great day, the map discussion the other day was good.. mountain in the way.. 90 degree! See ya.

Morning old people, supposed to be mid 70's today. I love be retired. It's been 5.5 years now. Get up when I want. Taking my wife to a dental appointment this morning. One of the best parts of retirement is going fishing during the week, and leaving the weekends to the crowds. Y'all have a safe and blessed day.

I have found another aspect of getting Old (er). You can take better care of your children, at least the ones that hustle and grind day in and day out. I refuse to help the one that thinks because I have it, I will give it to her. Not, Hell NO!

This! Is the thing I miss. While I was actually retired for the year and a half, crowd avoidance was probably my favorite part. Now that I got coaxed back in to the grind, I really miss it. But it won't be long now. Just waiting for my wife to get her time in and we are under a year. I got her one of those countdown digital counters and we watch it click over each morning at breakfast. Hit 304 today!
Have a great day everyone.

Greetings and a fine good AM to you all! Wow lots of good discussion happening, just show w/age does not mean your brain smooths out! I really enjoy maps of all sorts, learned to read them at my dad's hip, then self exploration, and topical graphical maps I was taught when I became an Outward Bound Instructor. Not one of my favorites are the "Butler Maps." Note NOT and advertisement for them, but I do enjoy their off the beaten path and unpaved routes from point A to B, fun stuff, especially in a T4R.
Yea sometimes my mind writes those checks my body can't cash...but I try and sometimes, yup I get tired and achy...lide changes and adaptation to one's "new reality" anyway it hit 54° yesterday, T-shirt and jeans! Alas Mother Nature said, "and today it'll snow." LOL...yea about that...cheers and ENJOY!

YES! I finally reached the point where it made sense to buy lifetime fishing and hunting licenses.

I'll admit, it did seem a little discouraging for a moment....

Yes, the State has "free Senior fishing licenses" there is a $5.00 fee if you are going to "keep" trout, salmon, and a few other species. Yes, obtained my Nat'l Park Senior Pass 10 years ago. It was $10. at he time and more than worth every penny!
    Yea..."The Band" so great!

'Morning guys, BTW, any 'older' girls with us on the forum? I don't think we should call them 'Old Farts' though. Any-who, I have 5 loads of that lime to haul, 45 loads done, not much help from the other driver, spent more time in the parking lot at the fuel stops or broke down, he hauled 4, I hauled 10, slower.. but steady... I'll be OK, promise! Weather for Wis. is kind of shakey, rain and thunderstorms predicted for this evening, 60F for a high on Sun., but like Whammo said, 'April dump' might be coming. We were working on a project a couple of years ago, April showers one day, 23" of snow the next! Take what ya get, and don't pitch a fit.. I guess, have a great day, and a better weekend! See Ya

Morning old people, supposed to be high 70* this morning and then start dropping into the mid 50'S this afternoon. My wife's dental appointment didn't go well. She had a dental implant about 8 months ago. Went back yesterday because it was bothering her and found out it didn't take like it was supposed to. She has to have it redone. The good news is the doctor said it won't cost anything, which is good. The first time it was around $1500.00 that we paid. The nurse that was in the room with the doctor said the same thing happened to her and the doctor fixed it. Said it's rare but sometimes they just don't take. Y'all have a safe and blessed day.

Greetings and good AM! Hey raining today and looks to be well above freezing for a week! In fact looking at possibly 70° next week...the rivers are going to be high, time to get the kayaks out! As i look out front I can see the emerging mailboxes and out back the start of mud season...dare I say start some seeds in a week or so? Hummm?!? Yea, I really enjoy playing music w/other "old folks" little ego, more encouragement, generally accomplished players, and willing to laugh at themselves and yet...making some good tunes and having huge fun! Helps keep us off the streets! Ha! We're on the streets! Y'all have a stellar day, keep well and ENJOY!
