Lots of times now when people talk about Ca., there is a whole different 'vibe' than when I was stationed there or even when I drove semi to there from Wis. I'm saying 2 different learning curves, 2 different time periods, lots of great memories, some better than others. Has Ca. really gotten that bad? Just curious. The ride around with my 'best friend' was fun we just basically bummed around, stopped to check out some new furniture, had lunch, checked out the sites and came home. The temps here in Wis. were a little on the cool side yesterday, first day of March today, looking like it came in like a lamb, family get together for supper tonight (going to eat some fresh Perch I caught) dang! Life is good, hope everybody had a respectable weekend, if not, remember... It gets better!

Good AM y'all, growing up in SoCal was fantastic! It's not lost on me that I was very fortunate...I literally grew up in an orange grove with an avocado tree out my bedroom window! I walked about 15 minutes to go surf and usually wished one of my friends would show up. When I left Cali, it took me 15 minutes to walk across the sand as there were so many people and I wished everyone, but my friends, would get out of the surf line up. IMHO the population grew beyond the land's ability to support folks and (sorry, but not) money, greed, & politics have greatly affected Cali. I'm grateful to have had my early life experiences there, then, and very grateful to live in a rural environment that has that old SoCal vibe now! I'll step off my soapbox...hat in hand.
What a day yesterday, warm & beautiful ! Today, not so much, expect the snow to fly any moment, and looking ahead we'll be back on a warming trend shortly! Cheers everyone and have a fantastic day! Dang should have bathed the T4R yesterday, but I didn't  Oh well...soon! ENJOY

Morning old people, I plan to go exercise the 4WD in the 2011 today. I go out to an area that has all dirt roads around the lakes. The main road is about 3/4 mile long and straight. Lakes on both sides of the road There are a total of 11 lakes in a 1200 acre park. Y'all have a safe and blessed day.

After a week of above freezing temps, the last of the 10" or so of snow that was in the shade finally disappeared. Yay - Springs coming!
Waking up this morning, I found a new layer of snow - not much just a dusting - but it was snow.
Got to love NE Ohio and the wonderful weather maker of Lake Erie.

'Morning Older dudes. Is it really Mon. morning already? As we get older, seems like time passes a quite a bit quicker.. but I could swear it's only been like 30 something hours since Friday! OK, I'm probably wrong. How's the "springtime" thing going for everybody? Usually when we spot a robin out on the lawn, that means we're really close to spring, have not seen a robin yet, even though the temps last friday were almost 50F, then after the robins are seen, folklore says.. snows 3 times on the robin's tail before spring, well sometimes this is true. Above "the dirt line" again this morning.. good, so better go to work today, try to learn something, haul something, y'all have a stellar day, see ya!

Greetings and good morning all! No Robins or Orioles (usually see them first here) spotted yet. 15° at the moment w/a high of 31 today. Sunny and beautiful out, rain tomorrow so mud season will soon be here! I sincerely hope I'm able to stay above the mud-line for a bit longer! Yeah, no way I'm putting the snow equipment away yet...we've been hit with large "April Dumps" before! Dropping the CX-5 off to the body shop today and picking up some musical odds and ends too. Cheers y'all and ENJOY!

Mods? None. Been there, done that. I like this one stock.
Morning!! We're in our pre-Spring season. Saturday, sunny, 72 degrees, worked in the yard, washed the cars in short sleeves. Sunday, high 33 degrees, went to the farm to shoot .22's with the son and grandson wearing my heated vest (best $$ I've ever spent) under my coat. Next couple days...40's, 70's by Friday. Like a box of chocolates....

Still tons of snow in the north, over 20” level if you can find level. And it’s packed hard. But a bunch of 40 degree days coming up. Local schools were canceled today because of the back roads. With the snow melting then re-freezing the unpaved roads are solid ice. The county is using sand, and it works quite well. I have a long asphalt driveway, so like the paved roads it’s not bad, but most driveways in the area and some parking lots are all ice. No robins yet, but you can still icefish, lol.

Edit, just to say the sand on ice works well if you drive like your on ice. Most people here do. And when this ice melts it turns into muck and the muck will be as deep as the frost line until the frost is gone and the roads can dry out again. A good place to have a 4runner.

Good morning all...8° at the moment heading to 34 late today with snow and then rain?!? Typical N.E. trying to be spring, but not quite, LOL Bathed the T4R yesterday and had a steam clean of the underside before tucking it in the garage. New strings for some of the guitars yesterday and will take care of the rest today. CX-5 made it to the body shop. Considering some plans for a road trip in May to Montana & Utah (see 1/2 my kids and grandkids)...I still really enjoy looking at paper road atlases! Here's to a fine day no matter what you are up too! ENJOY

'Morning Farts of older persuasion, start to what seems like another day, greatness to be evaluated later. Warmer temps in the afternoon have made my job.. well interesting. We're hauling frozen topsoil, AKA- black dirt away from a job site where a huge building is being built, so in the AM the area which we back up to for loading, via excavator is frozen. In the afternoon things have been thawing out becoming "greasy", no traction for trucks, a little curveball, but very do-able, should be done by May! Whammo, you like looking at paper atlases? Ya, me too. Of the almost 3.5 million miles I've put on in commercial vehicles, 99% have had a paper map of some type involved. Montana and Utah are great states and it is an added bonus that you have Kids/Grandkids there. It's getting to be time to go to... you guys know... that 4 letter word.. work, everyone have a good day, I will! See Ya.

Yes! I admit to being a drug addict....caffine & ibuprofen!! My "oil can" Ha!
Yea Toy, have always enjoyed paper maps, GPS has its place, but I like looking closely at towns, lakes, rivers, the potential for scenic locations just off the beaten path. I'm gonna bet you do too. Been fortunate to have been able to drive almost all the lower 48 states and meet some very cool and interesting folks. Yea, total bonus with kids that are MT and UT "locals." cheers y'all

Speaking of maps. When my daughter's were young and we would go on road trips. I handed them each a map and told them once you find where we are, we can go to the bathroom. I started teamwork and they didn't even notice. I still have my Rand McNally and my Thomas guide.

When I drove 'over-the-road' semi, the Rand McNally was used everyday. The version was the 'Truckers' version that showed all the rest stops, weigh stations etc.

'Morning old dudes! How 'bout that weather? I think it's safe to put away the snowmobiles, winterize them and such. Snowmobile trails here in Wis. have evolved from back in the 70's, we used to 'cut' trails in ditches, commonly called ditch banging, through the woods etc., old snowmobiles had a whopping 4" of suspension travel.. maybe, today the trails resemble 2 lane highways and are groomed with special equipment, and smooth.. which is weird, todays snowmobiles have an incredible amount of suspension travel. 2 seasons here in Wis.... winter and construction on roads season! Some of our roads are terrible, you could loose a small child in some of the potholes! There's a reason we put aftermarket suspensions on our 4Runners, right? Y'all have a great day, it's 'hump-day', not real important, just thought I'd mention it. See Ya.
