    1 more year...
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!!

In my case I was out (and enjoying it) but my wife was still working and we couldn't really do all the stuff we would have liked to. So when an opportunity came up for me to work some more and pad the savings, I took advantage of it. Now she is nearing the end so we shall see. Technically she can go in July but we thought we would finish the year. It will be interesting to see what eventually happens with health care costs also as she will have a couple of years to cover. We've been investing towards that expense but now we may end up having to burn the entire grubsteak. Well cest la vie, you can't take it with you.

Based on my experience yesterday, nothing emphasizes exactly where you are in life like opening an envelope and seeing your name on a Medicare card.

A friend and I were bullshitting in my pole barn. He said how long do you think you will live? I said with a little luck 85. He pulled out a tape measure to 85 inches. He said how old are you now, I said 65. That left me 20 inches of life left. Seeing it makes it more real. BTW he died at 74 not long after that.

Yeah, stuff like that puts it in perspective.
I like how all the financial planners like to mention that "lots of folks are living well into their 90s these days" in order to keep you investing. But really if you ask 10 people how many 90+ folks they know you're not going to get a lot of hits. I don't personally know any. Not sure, but my neighbors across the street might be or at least approaching it. My coworkers parents both made it to their 90s but that's about it.

I'd like to make 95 if I have my health but... who knows.

I hate getting blood work done. I have rolling veins and I usually get stock at least three times . Every now and then I'll get lucky and get stuck two times.

    You're in our thoughts.

This one resource did much for me. $10 or so on Amazon. 71hL4b7tQIL._SL1500_.jpg

You're not along for the ride and you're not alone. Speak your fears, ask for answers to your ignorance (we were all dumb in the beginning) and your Oncologist should take time to address it all.

And count your blessings. Some days you'll have to squint, but they're there.

I remember 23 cent gas, 20 cent McDonalds hamburgers & they hadn't sold a million yet. You walk or ride a bicycle if you want to go somewhere. Mom would say be home for supper and have no idea we are tubing down a flooded stream and nobody can swim yet. BB gun fights with a Crossman pump master. We had tobacco and smoke breaks, but no pop and candy machines. You left your rifles in the truck gun rack while you were parked until school was over. Everyone just needs to much information and an app now. Have to invent a yard mowing app just to get a kid to do it today.

That's what I would do living in salt. I would have two used 4runners instead of a new one. One for winter and the other one you want to keep.

I remember my uncle bought a 1974 Datsun B210, in 1974 for a family of 4 and Mobil 1 synthetic oil. That was my first knowledge of Mobil synthetic. He got 40+ mpg , but he and his wife only drove 6 miles a day to teach school and it looked like a can stuffed with sardines with the fam damily. We did discover he was a stupid moron a few decades later. I guess when stupid goes unfixed.

Greetings all...warm weather in Southern New England today 41 woohoo! Delivering my old snowblower to my daughter & son-in-law. Man for a 36 y.o. unit it starts right up and runs great, even throws snow! I figure since I got myself a new one, way easier to use for this old body, I dropping off the still working old one...that'll take care of the snow for the season! Murphy's Law Ha!
Y'all have a great day...Guppy1 that sounds great...I'll be on my way, figure I'll be able to follow the scent of deliciousness! ENJOY
