Looking to buy a pair of Diode Dynamic SS3 lights to replace my OEM fog lights but not sure if I would get white or yellow.

I live in NC, so not much snow. Only dust I have to worry about is on bock roads in the country.

I kind of wanted these to be ran all the time while driving on the road and was leaning towards the white. But figured I’d see what you guys thought.

White for stock replacement. Yellow is just for IG. If real fogs are needed then separates are the better choice anyway. I went OEM LED replacements because they're relatively cheap.

White is popular for regular use. For fog/rain, yellow is best.

Yellow is best for visibility in wet conditions. SS3's are a massive improvement over stock. No need to add extra switches and brackets.

Yellow in the stock location is definitely for IG. The truck ricers leave them on at all times to let everyone know they have an IG account.

If I could go back and make all my additional lighting yellow I would.
Yellow cuts through dust, snow, rain and fog better. It also doesn't blind the drivers in front of me on the trail

I sorta feel attacked. I do have DD SS3 yellows but only use them during the 2 or 3 weeks worth of rain we get here in SoCal. The most usage I get is sitting in traffic coming down from Big Bear - only if it's snowing of course ;).

Sorry, I generally agree with you and a lot of things but you are 100% wrong on this.

The only thing you're right about is that the IG dipshits leave them on all the time.

I live here too. It's not even that bad 99% of the time. But there it is on the 91 and 55 with yellows on.

Just post your SN on the rear 1/4 windows.

I want a set of yellows but I'm putting them behind the grill or on the mirrors with some MinWin mounts. The stock location and lens is more of a driving light to me.

So, SAE fog light replacements in the stock locations are for Instagram. But, you're going to mount some on your mirrors, LOL.

I don't have experience even on someone else's vehicle with yellow fogs.

But since I have not had problems with factory white lights in fog I like it. Hence I got white fog light LED housings to my 2019 what had halogen fog lights.

Since I always keep fog lights on, I like to run white as they do not shout "modified".

To my eye when someone is coming in front with yellow fog lights its really hard. I would think the opposite would be same. Like if I run yellow fog lights it would make others angry.

Here's a sample experience with mine, everything stock -

To me someone coming towards me with yellow lights very hard to my eyes vs white lights. Practicing my patience and keeping it legal not to turn on my offroad lights to blind the fella.

They’ll augment the crappy halogen headlights nicely. I had yellow. Loved them. But I had to aim them as low as they’d go. They are bright.

to be fair, I have the newer led headlights that come on the 2022 and up models. So the white would match

This is exactly what I did.

I live in the Central Valley, Ca with Tule Fog. It’s been so bad this year my solar powered ring cameras have run out of juice. No flipping way I’d ever go back to white.

    I vote yellow, it's nice.

And when you go upgrade to OEM LED, you will have nice contrast.

    White=driving. Yellow=fog. It's not complicated.

Great example of why I should get the white lol

plus the weather where I live really never is bad enough to where the benefits of yellow would be needed

I run my Piaa 520 yellow fogs as DRL's. They are mounted on a home-fabed bracket behind the grill.
There are several 4R's in the area that run yellow fog's in place of the stock fog's. If I'm driving towards a group of vehicles, it's so easy to pick out the yellows because the white fog's all blend in regardless of vehicle choice.
As a comparison, most of the duel-sport, and a few of the cruisers and crotch rockets run at least 2 yellow lights.
They are so easy to see (for me and I won't speak for others) that if I still rode a duel-sport, I'd have yellows on it too.

Incandesent is better than LED. It "cuts" through the fog/snow, oncoming traffic with there overpowered LEDs. Corolla: Led headlights, BUT they kept incandesent fogs and tail lights. For oncoming traffic blinding you and you can still see the lines on the road. Its harder to judge distances when the vehicles in front of you have led tailights.

I skimmed comments but didn't read everything. regarding IG stuff - I think people on IG do ambers because it grabs your attention more but also...there's tremendous benefits in applications like baja racing over white so it's a performance part, top tier, and people want to 'look the part' unnecessarily.

Amber's exist because they work REALLY well specifically at night on trails, at night int he snow, or with dust on the trails. If you live in an area where there sometimes is a lot of fog, go amber. Amber actually works in these conditions. REALLY well. at least compared to white.

Amber will increase contrast. So if you're on a trail at night all the pot hole sand rocks and everything will pop better and be easier to see. I did 5 hours at night one time on a motorcycle and my Baja Pro Ambers saved me. Like I said could see EVERTHING really well. Especially important on a motorcycle. As an aside I like them on a motorcycle because you can be seen really well.

So if the above is important to you go ambers.

The Baja Squadron Pro's on my 4runner are white. I don't like the way the Ambers, or any yellow looks on the 4runner. Just my onion. I also run white raptor lights. That's a touchy subject among some but I'm really just saying they're white.

The CONS of white: They're the opposite of the above. I turned mine on one time when I was on a trail behind another truck. Lot of dust and the sun was going down. Starting to get dark and it was hard to see with what little sun left was lighting up the dust. My whites made this basically a white out condition totally blinding me. They'll blind you in fog too.

They white out or wash out contrast. rocks, pot holes etc are more difficult to see especially snow or sandy trails.

So it's up to you. Some people like the way ambers look on the vehicle. I think I associate it with cheap. I live in the bay area and cheap amber foglights have been on beat down honda's and trashy cars here since I was young. So for me, all those real benefits (some I've experienced first hand) do not outweigh just the way I think they look. Personal preference. I would still put them on a motorcycle though for no other reason but to be easily seen.

Whatever you do, please don't run your ambers in the day like so many people around where I live. Makes us look bad.
