Which Dongar Adapter for 2021 ORP?

Dongar shows two adapters for the 2021 4Runner of all trims:

DCA-10B Standard adapters for ignition-on only operation.
DCA-12-T Adapters that connect at the Lane Trace / TSS camera above the mirror.

Is this an either/or choice? Isn't TSS on only with ignition?

If you don't have a TSS camera then it's the DCA-10B. What's the back of your rearview mirror look like? That should let you know which one to get, also.

 

might be a poorly written Amazon description but did you notice it says "Check Compatibility before ordering" and down below it doesnt list the 4R at all?

This makes sense, But I thought all 2021s had the same TSS with camera. I know mirrors can be different; in my case I do not have a plug on the back of my mirror. Figured there was maybe two options to tap into switched vehicle power... if an option extists to avoid tapping into a safety system, generally that is the better way to go.

 

I just installed this on my 2021 ORP. It comes with a short USBC cable so probably dont need to buy one.

2020+ is TSS, same across trims

Just to confirm, your ORP rear view mirror does not have a connector on the backside, correct? (mine does not)

You plugged the Dongar adapter into the harness under the headliner, correct?

 

Clarification from Dongar customer service:

“There’s no difference in application between the DCA-10 and DCA-12T aside from where they connect. The DCA-10 plugs into the mirror harness, while the DCA-12Tconnects to the TSS module. Both adapters are compatible with your 2021 4Runner.”

 

Correct. Plugged dongar behind headliner after removing the crawl control knobs and headliner lights/buttons.

However the stock cable is in fact by the mirrors. When adding the dongar you need to pull it up into the headliner so it looks clean with less stuff hanging down. I zip tied the dongar about the headliner with some other wiring.

Sorry this was the one time I didn't take pics.

Edit: for anyone reading, the plastics covering the wiring on the mirror and box next to the mirror on the windshield just slide right off either up or down. They DO NOT pull straight off outward. They slide easily off.

But wanted to share that I like this product. I installed Dongar 7 pin one to my 2019 4runner. Easy install and neat.

 

My 2019 TRD ORP took the 10 pin Dongar. Is there different rear-view mirrors between the 2019 trims?

 

I don't have a clear pic. Hope this kinda show how my 2019 Limited mirror wire look.

 

My bad, mine is a 7 pin, also. Was trying to go from memory.
