Where all that oil/grease could come from?

Hello!
Just finished replacing my cv axles because all 4 boots were tore apart.
Then I went to change my engine oil and when I went under I noticed this greasy stuff on the block. At first I thought this could be just that the axle grease spread around while running it with a broken boot but it's way too far from the axle joint and nothing else is covered.

What could it be? Don't tell me it's a cracked block I'm setting the whole thing on fire

Oil and grease has a habit of spreading around in strange directions depending on the airflow going down the road. Try to clean as much of it as you can so you can track where it’s coming from.

 

I have good luck on older leaky oily motors with Simple Green, paint brush, Home Depot pump sprayer. Wipe as much gunk off as you can with rags. Then soak with Simple Green and brush. Rinse with hot water. Repeat as necessary.
I suggest removing your skid/bash plate and select a parking spot where you can bury or cleanup the mess that falls through.

 

Clean it off and monitor it.
