because its an older car and dumping money into something that could possibly not last couple years is not my thing. But like I said its yours and if you are cool with that risk then I'm all for it.

i prefer to mod new and leave the older cars to being my dd.

Wow that’s great. Looks pretty good. Is that just rust reformer or the paint too?

I mean i know that you have a point, but i like the car, it is in great conditiion, i work from home so i drive around 7/10k a year i think that it will last more than a couple of years, paid 3800 for the car putting extra 4k to have a decent ride doesnt sound terrible.. but i agreed with you, i am taking a risk, hope everything goes well..

Paint doesn’t stick to oil. Rust reformer, paint, and then oil. And add oil(fluid film) once a year. If you add fluid film first the paint will just come off.

Imagine washing hands with oil on it without soap. It’s really hard. The fluid film will help keep the salt and water from rusting your frame the same way, by repelling it.

have a budget for your car. It’s does have over 400k miles on it. All the extra money you spend you won’t get back.

I probably won’t be able to get the truck for the price I want. Plus it has too much rust. I will have to wait for something better to come around.

You could save a lot more than 2K if you transport a few "items" for me back and forth. :spy:

I didn’t buy the rusty 2003 4Runner. There is another one 2003 SR5 215k miles, he is saying 5.2k. It needs a timing belt and probably some other maintenance done. So hopefully I can get it for 4k. I can do all the maintenance myself. Hopefully the frame is less rusty. Would 4k be too much? Any opinions?

Wow! That's pretty cool man, it looks clean! Great deal. Congrats bro! Will this be your DD or you want like a winter vehicle? What't the deal?

I finish with all the rust reformer today, fluid film is on the way, i will be applying it next week. I will post photos next week after the oxidation is removed and the paint restoration has been completed!

It will be a daily driver. The paint needs some work, for now I will just wash and wax so nothing gets worse. I will be doing a frame job like how you did and fluid film. I have an interior detailing carpet cleaner. So I will clean everything up and make everything nice inside.

This is the order i will do everything

First I will take care of engine bay, it’s dirty and I don’t want to get all dirty changing the timing belt. then belt, then frame, then brake bleed and possible replacement of front pads. then interior detail , then outside paint corrections. Weather tech mats before snow.

Rims and Tire replacement eventually. Definitely some aftermarket shocks will need to be installed too. I want to add a aftermarket exhaust. I am thinking of straight piping it, or maybe Gibson exhaust The Muffler and resonator makes the V8 too quiet. I want to unstrangle the beast.

I will be doing all this myself.

Ultimately my goal is to use this vehicle until have enough money to buy the next gen 4Runner cash. Sorry Dave Ramsey, but I want a new car. Definitely will get a TRD Pro. Dave would beat my ass if I called him.

I get nervous when I think about all the money I am spending. TBH I don’t really need a vehicle rn. So I am just being an idiot buying this. I don’t really need a DD until summer 2021. But the good thing is all my repairs will be done by then.

Tires are more important for off-roading. But it’s not worth buying new tires first and lifting afterward. The tires you spent all that money on will be too small and you will want to upgrade after the lift

For putting rust reformer on calipers be careful not to put it on the brake rotor. Just wipe before it drys. If it drys on it just be careful driving for a little bit until it rubs off. I currently I have a little bit of por15 that dried on my rotor. It will just come off while I drive. I will just brake hard with no one around so any excess just comes off. Also be careful spraying fluid film near the brake rotors. Don’t want to do that.

For running Bilstein they will work on xreas. Since xreas does not replace the shock, just changes up the spring. To add lift to the rear you will need to do stuff to the xreas. Bilstein 5100 or 5160 will work great on your truck as it is currently. You could fit a 275/70/17 without probably adding any height to the rear. Clearance will be more of an issue with the front.

WOW nice led kit. Stock sucks lol. Ordered it now
