I've got a Koi pond and a rock garden and some snake has taken up squatting in my rocks and dining on my Koi and a few toads. It's got to go. The area is Northwest Alabama and my home backs up to the woods. My camera I set up got a picture of its tail. Any snake experts know what kind it is?

    Oooh look, another mod.....
That is a midland or northern water snake. They primarily eat fish and amphibians and are not venomous but may bite defensively if threatened. Which explains why he's hangin' in your pond.

Chop off his head and nail his body to a post so the other snakes can see that you mean business. That should deter any future predators from entering your Koi pond.

Having owned snakes for 20+ years... it's hard to tell by just that tail. It honestly looks like some kind of red tail boa (which would be stretch) that would have escaped or been let loose.
Doesn't look venomous. Unless it's eating your fish I'd let him/her be.

Just encountered my first snake in the garage last week. It was a 2 feet python by the looks of it. Probably someones pet that escaped.
Wife was petrified that made me petrified that made the snake petrified.
I did not want to kill it, so it took me 4 hours to make him leave my garage. These things are fast and can climb.

It's either a water snake, or a python

Either one is harmless so just let it be.

They make hoes and shovels for things like this.. chop chop! We live out in the country, and when doing gardening stuff my wife discovered a huge garter snake(about 30") and named it Gerty, I'm sure it controlled some mice, frogs etc.

I did get some things after the encounter. Just to be prepared for any future transgressions.
Watching all those national geographic shows growing up did nothing.
My wife has taken to gardening big time. I hope she does not encounter one. She is already miffed at this rabbit that just keeps making itself comfortable in the garden bed.

You know the snake in the photo above is a Spitting Malaysian Cobra? Just kidding, not a big fan of snakes.

That is clearly one of two possibilities. Either a "Danger Noodle" or a "Nope Rope" IMHO...

I decided to drain and clean the koi pond. Kinda make it like the snake restaurant is closed. Transferred the koi and water plants to temporary kiddie pools.
