What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Def on the expensive side but it's solid and well made. No complaints.

 

We just picked up the 4runner and a place for the phone was the first thing I was looking for, I saw this and was leaning this route. It is spendy but these days it seems everything is!

 

Where did you get that shift knob?! Do they have black?

Swapped head unit out for TGP's Sony XAV9500-ES kit. Also installed the LabOps kit while I was in there. Head unit is so awesome, the EQ alone made a major improvement from stock.

I leave the clock on top fast... because reasons

 

Not really done "to" the 4Runner but "for" the 4Runner: Had to reschedule our trip to visit relatives down south due to both of us coming down with COVID-thank the Lord for vaccinations! We both were over it in 3-4 days except the wife caught a flu bug because her immunity was lowered. Good news: Saving about $500 and still adding a couple of days. Still have to go to Portland (now a separate trip) to get pictures and fingerprints for my OR CCL. Changed all reservations w/o cancellation fees, took the roof basket off, weather should be better (hoping to visit Bodie and Manzanar-still taking traction mats and a snow shovel), programming some additional addresses into the Nav.

 

New tires. Stock size because the price was right. Venom Power Terra Hunter XT. Nice aggressive tread with good road manners. Venoms come with a warranty unlike most bargain tires. Little bit of road noise but nothing unexpected. I priced tires locally and they were almost double the price. Payed $821 for five tires through Walmart and $95 installation at a local shop. And I still have money in my pocket for more gear.

 

Got some maintenance done today. Oil change, rotate tires, grease driveshaft zerks, air filter, and cabin filter.

Also got to test out my new Milwaukee 1/2" compact impact wrench. Had no trouble removing the lugs and the 65 lb-ft setting for tightening the lugs before I hit it with a torque wrench worked great.

 

Forgot to mention when I was under the 4Runner, there is still a healthy layer of Woolwax on the frame. Been thru the undercarriage carwash about every 2-3 weeks this winter.

 

Also, Made reservations for Jake's Crawfish in Portland!

 

Just doing a little work on our full skid package today.

 

Had to drill out one of the licence plate bolts. Wouldn't budge at all, even after several days of PB Blaster. Vehicle isn't even 5 years old yet. Replaced the old bolts with stainless and used anti-seize.

 

Cornfed level installed

 

It was a long day....and got a lot of help...but we got done the new breaks, durobumps (front and back), Panhard correction kit, and the ARB breather. Thanks a bunch to TEQ Solutions in houston for all his help and guidance with this project.

 

From the looks of it, you went with 1 inch in the front?

 

Yep 1 inch. Easy install and all the higher I want to be. From what I can tell it rides and drives like stock still. Wheels and tires Wednesday then I need to schedual an alignment.

 

Anti-seize is the ticket!

 

Picked up OEM LED fogs to go with my Alpharex MK2 headlights. I want to cover everything in protective film before I install.

 

Anyone have any tips for the front plate where the screws go into plastic? I think I stripped the 2 holes. They don’t want to stay tight anymore.

 

not today, but last week installed my ironman 4x4 lift with all the kdss things and 285/70/17 tires , truck ride awesome !

 

1. Try a larger diameter screw.
2. And goop up the hole in the plastic and the screw threads with E6000 Multi purpose adhesive. Black or clear color. Don’t overtighten. It will set up securely overnight.

Perfect. Thanks for the tip on the adhesive. I was gonna try lock-tite until I read not to use it on plastic.

 

Added a Switch Pro and installed a GMRS radio in the center console.

 

Performed my first oil change today. (5000mi) I had the MotivX kit, which made it easy.

 

Panhard relocation bracket to be added?

There’s a local place that installs protection fill I’ll see what they can do.
