Don't remember which bracket it was now. I did the swap years ago. It hasn't moved, no vibration or muddy sound, so I guess it works just fine.

It holds the reel and handles, rod tip goes towards the windshield. It’s tight but should fit, one bungee goes towards the rear passenger door

Found my fav wax at WM, so did a quick wash and wax. I will take it for a 16 year old car but never buying a black car again!

This is how much cooler your ride would look, if it wasn't rolling on street tires...

That does look good! What are those, 35's? One day when my 4runner is not my daily, I will do all those things to it that those cool people do to theirs.

I have no idea. I just told the AI aliens to "Put bigger offroad tires on it."

Thanks for all the bracket links. I cancelled the $43 Etsy brackets and ordered the ones from Amazon for $26.99. The other links were less but charged for shipping. I know I could modify the oem brackets without too much trouble but want to save the time and effort. If the Amazon bracket doesn't work, returns are very easy. Fingers crossed everything will fit.

Speaking of bigger offroad tires, a little birdie told me Toyota is considering a special edition new options package that would have 37" offroad tires and factory long-travel suspension. I'm not BS-ing.

Seems like they are pretty far down the path of considering this options package since they are in the process of coming up with a name for it.

Are you thinking the Kuhl build?
    https://www.carscoops.com/2026/01/t...g-wagen-and-looks-like-a-life-size-tonka-toy/

But yes if Toyota wants to not loose more sales to Bronco they may need a large tire trim /model option
    https://fordauthority.com/2025/12/ford-bronco-sales-numbers-figures-results-third-quarter-2025-q3/

but can you imagine how many tie rod ends would snap under warranty with a 37" tire option?

I was thinking a simple paint marker would do the trick for the vent parts.. and then you can have any color you want.

    https://www.amazon.com/Oil-Based-Paint-Pen-Permanent-Marker/dp/B08VRXP82W/
    https://www.posca.com/en/
    https://www.unibrands.co/collections/fine-line-markers

heck you can even color match

    as example:
Toyota Genuine #00258-006X3-21 Touch up Paint - Lunar Rock

    or the best color:

I got some Etsy pieces as well. I think this was frost blue metallic. Thought it went with nautical blue. You can see one here.

What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I'm referring to a factory trim level that would be added alongside TRD Pro, etc., although Kuhl could possibly be involved in the project based on one of the words I saw in the article you linked.

I really hope they don't do whatever Kuhl did to that Land Cruiser.

    That thing looks like butt.

Not that I really care. I would never buy the upper trim anyways.

I don't know in your dealership the ones I see here in Denver CO is some cheap a** spacer lifts. You can see the silver color spacer in this pics.

Makes sense the Tacoma had a TRD solution https://autoparts.toyotadirect.com/products/product/trd-suspension-lift-kit-ptccy35360
and now the 6th Gen 4Runner does
    https://autoparts.toyota.com/products/product/trd-3-suspension-lift-kit-hybrid-ptccy34320

but 35" is still a bit of a reach from 37" tires. I am curious if the larger tire 35" installed by that dealership will impact future warranty repairs on steering components.

side note while searching for the part numbers.. that "Trailhead" package is a wild price!
    upload_2026-2-18_14-36-26.png

most of the informed buyers know the "upgrades" in this package are over priced.. and someone in the community broke it down

40k mile service done today  everything checked out besides the battery since it tested bad. Got it replaced with one from Toyota. Side Note: The Cooper Rugged Treks are at 10/32nds on all four (30k miles on them, rotated every 5k) so I’m happy with the wear.
