Plugged mine in for fun. Carmax was $4k higher than Carvana.

I got a $31k-$41K range, CarMax wants to see my rig in person to give a selling price…guess it’s true about mods not adding value even though when done right.

Yeah, if you tell 'em you've added mods or had an accident, they want to see the rig in person. Try without and see what they tell you.

Drove mine to work today, after its two-week vacation. Ended up making a delivery after work.
Good thing, too, because this fella’s driveway was a wreck! :D

I'm just guessing on the wear, but they've all been high-speed interstate driving for the most part. I'm thinking of selling them as spares once I get my MT BB's. Date code is from 2023 IIRC.

New head unit in today! Love it! Really glad to see the pressure of all 4 tires now. Found a size of Screen Protech that I should be able to trim to fit. Because good night! Fingerprints show up like a MF!!

TrailGridPro is excellent! Really like how they put things together and their videos are top notch.

I would probably have done STUPID things years ago with this info taunting me to do better!

Keep us posted on future ride quality guys thanks. I know my tread life has been
Read a complaint about set of baja boss with noisy cupping, another with cracking, recently. My 2021 baja atz treads have been outstanding.
Cupping can sometimes be caused by other factors tho.

30k mile oil change and service yesterday. Had an alignment done as well. Gonna change the air and cabin filters when it gets daylight. It’s supposed to be 80 and sunny Saturday so I’ll finally be able to wash the new ceramic.

That's pretty sad...we recently requested a quote from Carvana for my wife's 2018 Kia Soul w/96k miles and it came back $6,600.

Depends on location. 15 yr old in upstate NY, for example, would typically be in an LKQ or Copart yard.

I know for a fact that my 15 year old 4runner is at least on par with any 4runner purchased by anyone within the last 4 to 5 years. 5k oil changes, regular fluid changes, nay a rust, upgraded OEM 2022+ head unit, no oil consumption, no leaks, fluid filmed, brand new OEM suspension, TRD pro rims, etc etc. But the algorithm does not care. It is coded in a way where it takes the age and mileage and spits out a number irrespective of the condition.
I am pretty sure, unless you enter something like engine blown, frame completely rusted out etc, the value will be similar for every 4runner from 10-13 when sold to these online shops. I got a number of $7200. I have spent 60% of that on just rims/tires and OEM suspension alone. Had I not made these replacements , my number would still be the same.
I see these going for anywhere between 10k to 15k online. There is good money to be made on these by the resellers.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

This is what my local Kroger is selling it for (according to GasBuddy):

    upload_2026-2-4_9-37-6.png

As you all know, I get it for far less thanks to my Kroger Fuel Rewards card. A few weeks ago I got it for under $1 ! It feels awesome to fill up the entire tank and paying only $20 - 30 bucks.

Yep that tracks for the Korean duo. Bought my ‘16 Sorento for $15.5k (84k miles) in mid-2021, traded to CarMax for ~$7,500 (130k miles) in fall 2023.

The one-two punch of the Sword of Damocles engine and stupid easy theft (in US) did not do it’s value any favors.

Shame though since it was a solid car that took everything* I threw at it except for those two very critical things looming which sadly is pretty typical for their vehicles, even the electric ones.

*sand, rock, towing, you name it

Yes. They low ball older cars and likely wholesale them for $5k more than they pay. These older, good condition 4Runners in the PNW, go from $14-18K depending on mileage.

Carmax was even worse. We were going to buy a newer Kia from them and all they would give us for her Soul was $2500.00. No sale made.

When I traded in my 13 towards my 23, I went to Carmax first to get a trade value. The dealership actually beat it by almost $3500 because Carmax tries to low ball you.

EDIT: They didn't offer me $3500 more initially, it took a good bit of back and forth, but in the end they pony'd up.

Dealer trade-in value is an artificial game though, as in they'll inflate the trade-in value and the new car price by the same amount to make you feel less offended.

I've received multiple notes on my 2018 SR5P offering to buy it for $35,000.

Some of you will get the reference and some of you won't.

^^^ Typically yes, but I had already negotiated the price on the truck as I said I wasn't trading, just financing. So got them down to what I was comfortable with and then added in the fact I wanted to trade. My sales person wasn't happy with that so I said sell it to someone else and got up to leave. Eventually we all agreed and got the paperwork done. They can afford to eat one deal every now and then since they make so much $.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I have a way to deal with salesmen at dealerships so I get the most money for my trade and the lowest price on the vehicle I buy.

    What I do:

The night before I am scheduled to go into the dealership I eat a lot of asparagus and brussels sprouts. The next day I drive up to the dealership and I walk up to the salesman and as I am shaking his hand I give him my terms. I do not break eye contact at all. That's the key. Establish dominance right away. THEN, I rip the nastiest, smelliest and loudest fart possible. Make sure it's so loud that you see people turn their heads as if to say "Whaaaaat was that noise I just heard?"

I know what you're thinking "OMG, Borracho!! You'll risk shitting yourself!" Trust me. The juice is worth the squeeze. After you rip that bad-boy fart that smells so bad it could gag a maggot, KEEP shaking his hand and do not let go and do not break eye contact. If you see his eyes start to water, you've won the battle.

Sure, you run the risk of being banned from said dealership and you probably ruined those jeans. But with the money you just save you can buy 50 new pair of jeans, plus you'll have a hilarious story to tell others.

....and that ladies & gentlemen, is how you get back at the dealership for trying to fuck you over!
