I decided to have it re-appraised. It's been a few months. I was shocked, honestly. It's been a few months and I've added a lot of miles to it, the last time I had it appraised it was worth $39k. Now....

    upload_2026-2-1_19-43-25.png

It probably went up in value because they know I don't have Raptor Lights on it...

I wish I could switch back to a basic flip phone. I really do. But since I work in IT I have to have a smart phone so I can use MFA apps like RSA, MS Authenticator (plus other apps like Outlook, Zoom/Teams/OneDrive, etc..)

I simply wouldn't be able to do my job without a smart phone. I barely use most of the shit that's on my phone. People think that because I'm the IT guy, that I love tech and have or love all the latest tech stuff. I don't. I'm an analog guy who lives in a digital world.

People at work sometimes try to chat me up and talk about "the rig they're building at home"....that's code for powerful desktop-gaming pc. I just smile, nod and say "Wow, that sounds awesome." Truth is, I don't hear a thing they say and I'm wondering what to do for lunch or if my commute home will have more or less traffic. I don't fucking care about your $2,000 video card.

I get made fun of by many when they see me talking on my flip phone. I just don't have the need for a smart phone. Like you, I didn't use alot of what was available on the iphone and I thought why do I have this????? LOL

Actually within shooting distance of the regular Mobil 1 0W20. The only issue is availability. It's never in stock at Walmart.
I read about this over at the BITOG website. It has the more stringent MB229.51/52 requirement. Just changed it today for the first time. I wanted to run a thicker oil but wasn't keen on 5w30. Let's see how it goes.

Looks like it! Place an order and see if they have the 5qt and the 1qts available for pickup. This is practically boutique oil for regular oil price.

I put a 5-qt and two 1-qts in my cart and it said pickup tomorrow 8-9 AM? I wasn’t planning on getting any right now but this seems quite reasonable a price so I may just pull the trigger…

    Hello!

New guy here, discovered immediately that this place is great for finding things that I didn’t know I needed!

‘Bought a 2022 SR5 two weeks ago, it’s as basic and stripped down as they come.

So far I’ve installed a phone holder, Lasfit floor mats, tinted the front side windows, trimmed the front bumper plastic, did a body mount chop and an oil change. Waiting on a 2/1 Cornfed spacer lift kit, a set of Spidertrax wheel spacers and some eBay bump stops. And I’ve got a set of 285/70/17 Falken Rubitreks waiting at the tire shop. Everything should be here this week, install should be next week/weekend depending on work schedule etc.

It’s good to be back in a Toyota!

This winter, the HVAC blower made a high-pitched whistle, which then degraded to a grinding sound when the temps dropped to 11F. I guess the bearings are gone after 16 years. Replaced it with a "Marsflex" chineseium unit P/N APAC04003-MM with good reviews.

OEM Denso vs. "Marsflex". Note the balancing weight on one of the blower wheel vanes:

Installed and functioned. Whole job took about 20 minutes outdoor in the driveway. Let's see how long it lasts lol.

I changed mine at 170k. The original developed a nasty whine. Went with OEM again. Figured it should last till I own this. Though OEMs are known to be noisy.

^Through this blower replacement process I learned the Lexus GX460 blower is interchangeable with Dodge Journey's :homer:

The LC200 blower fits as well, but costs 50% more and apparently spins in the opposite direction.

Did the same for funsies, bought it for ~$36k ($40k OTD) at CarMax 2.5 years and 40k miles ago so value of course didn't go up but seems reasonable.

I was curious so I checked as well (not that it matters because I'm not selling it regardless of their offer)

Replaced the lift gate struts and hood struts. Lift support depot 4004 for the lift gate and Stabilus lift o mat for the hood. All 4 for less than a single OEM piece.
The OEMs did last over 200k.

Replaced my spare that was riding on passenger side front with my newly patched BFG that got flat from a deer carcass. Tire guy mentioned it might have been part of an antler. I did weigh my spare that has a 285/70/17 KO2/ TRD Off-road wheel. Tire probably has less than 50 miles on it. Weighed 81 lbs. My Method/285/70/17 KO2 with 70k and about 2/3 wear came in at 74 lbs. Forgot to snap a pic of the spare.

Wow, no love for the pre-face lifters, huh? I mean, ya'lls trucks are over 15yrs old. Imagine what a 15yr old Nissan/Kia/Dodge/Hyundai is worth? Probably scrap value!
