What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

In 3 years of ownership, I've gotten above 19 mpg (19.3) average only once lol.

 

@vthoky Got them at Sams. It ticked me off, but they seemed to have balanced them at least. I can clean them up myself

Yeah, I hate to jump the MT ship but after making a number of requests to the general MT service emails and one short convo with a Senior Technical Rep I could not convince them to produce a 255/80 size. Wish I knew how many requests it would take to convince them to do so!

I finally got around to making a bracket for a battery disconnect switch that I installed for my winch. I used 16 gauge steel which is a little thin, but that was the thickest I could find at Home Depot. This is a Blue Sea Systems switch and I used a 2 3/8 inch bi-metal hole saw for the switch handle.



It's too cold to paint outside, so I used a homemade airsoft target backstop as my makeshift paint booth.



The screws used to mount the bracket to the frame are offset because there is an obstruction beneath. I just eyeballed where to drill and the screw on the left needed to be more to the right about a 1/4 inch because it's a bit tricky to get the screw onto the bolt as it's now mounted. There not much room to work with there because the frame isn't flat, it ramps upward beginning at the right edge of the bracket. I peeled the Warn sticker off the fairlead that came with the winch.



There's a factory wiring harness between the switch housing and frame. It would have been a better fit if the switch were about a half inch closer to the battery. I just kinda held things in place and figured 4"x6".



The only issue is I can't get the housing to snap fully on in the rear, it's on and I'll keep an eye on it.



I don't know what this cover is called, but I cut a hole in it for access to the winch clutch. Again, I eyeballed it and the hole obviously didn't need to be so big.

 

This weekends project. BD 40" light bar for the Westcott rack.

Last week it was an ice storm, and this weekend it was a snow storm. It's rare to get back to back winter storms in Upstate South Carolina. Unfortunately DNR closes the best off-road trails during winter weather.

Only a couple feet lower and my (steel) bumper would have hit a home run into the canyon below!

 

Sometimes it’s the most minor mods that make a difference. But in 3 weeks installing a RCI bumper/Warn winch & Westcott sliders. Looking forward to that “MOD” !!!!

I hit the remains of a deer carcass. Tried to straddle it but ended up clipping it with passengers side tires. Noticed tire totally flat this morning. I put my spare on then found the culprit. Part of a bone. Thinking it’s not fixable because of size and location. Got request in to Discount to ad match some MT BB A/T in 285/70/17. I have about 70k on my KO2s.

 

Oil and filter change. Interval 5k. OEM filter and 0W30 Mobil 1 ESP.

 

0w30? Oil war!!!

 

Yup! Best of both worlds. This is the most fancy of the 'off the shelf' oil.

My T4R has had a two-week vacation, enjoying the [relative] warmth of the garage during these storms.

Been driving the old Nissan instead, watching its odometer cross 330k last Friday.

 

I've kept mine parked shortly after the salt arrived. "Found" a Yaris that was left in my garage after the wife's passing, that I use and somehow I'm not ashamed.
