sorry for all the questions. You got pics of how much bumper you cut to make those fit? alignment? pushed them forward as far as they go? regear?

No worries. I’ll get pictures tomorrow. It’s not too much cutting and alignment is set to factory spec. No regear for now. Doing the gears on the tundra with lockers first. But I most likely won’t regear the 4runner. It’s going to my daughter in 5 years.

After finding the limited lifetime warranty page:
    Limited Lifetime Warranty – TuxMat.com

I would agree the warranty seems to blanket exclude wear and tear.
    upload_2026-1-9_9-10-52.png
    also on the Canadian site:
TuxMat FAQs | No BS. Real Answers About Fit, Shipping & Returns – TuxMat.ca
    upload_2026-1-9_9-19-55.png

I attempted to open a warranty claim (on the US site) using the single picture from this post: https://www.4runners.com/goto/post?id=794891#post-794891
But without an order number I fear it was simply ignored as I haven't received any communication after a week. Bummer. I also couldn't find a good method to contact them for general questions, maybe contact on FB might do it.. time to evaluate some other the other options out there.

I have the BaseLayer set, they’re pretty awesome. I hope they decide to make a matching cargo area mat.

I thought about this after my last road trip. Was thinking of just doing rear cargo area.

Here’s a few. BMC, hammered pinch weld, small amount of trimming in the front plastic, Perry bump stops front and rear, rear sway bar removed, -10 offset wheels, and only a slight rub on the bmc when fully stuffed and turned. I may do a more aggressive BMC in the summer. 35s are easy to fit.

Or you put it all back together just to discover you created 5 different squeaks or rattles somewhere in the cab.

I admire the work, but I'd be worried about creating more problems.

Nice. Cool dude thank you very much for sharing. Really appreciate it. Great intel here. I'm thinking of going to 34's or 35's from my cute little 33's. Another huge ask - would you happen to have a pic down the side of your 4runner - that could show how the stance is / how much the tires stick out?

Sure thing. -10 offset is the perfect setup for the 4runner from my research. Don’t go 34s because you’ll eventually end up going to 35s. You could go to 35x10.50 to make them much easier to fit.

that's a nice looking rig, thank you!

I appreciate the advice and I'm worried about that if I were to go 34's. I'm just really trying to fit the spare under the car and I'm not afraid to cut and weld to be able to do it. 34's looked very doable. 35's looked like I would need to get more creative.

If you want to fit a spare go 285/75r17. It’s a 34” and narrow too. My buddy has that size on his Tacoma and they look really good.

fitting same size spare definitely ideal. I don’t wanna pay for a tire carrier bumper atm, but honestly I’ve never used my spare in a decade and I don’t really like the 285 under when wheeling

    that’s good to know.
^this man’s 35’s solidified my intent to try 35’s once. his Lexus and Tundra rear bumper cover cuts inspired mine.
chops and alignment done, waiting for tires to wear out.

Ok Gang, It is a :101010: on the sound deadening project so far! I took Blue out for a real spin around town and of course on the HWY and my take is as follows:

    • Noise reduction is considerably up front, I don't hear the tires as much.
    • I don't hear the freaking magnablow exhaust (this was my main target).
    • You don't hear the wind as much.
    • I love the way the doors close now. So crisp and solid.
Is it worth it? yes, was it painful to get it going yes, but eventually I got it done. I will post all the details in my thread as I don't want to bug down this one with tons of similar p pics. Thanks @Thacrow for the motivation and the pictures shared on his rig. That example was priceless - :spending:.

P.S. I can't tell a difference in the sound of the music from the radio - but who cares, anyhow. I am just not a music person so I can't tell a difference on this stuff.

    Yes
Well, I started with a project to get stiffer springs since I added a bunch of armor weight. That snowballed, adding shocks and then I decided to get 4.88 gears from this forum, which meant the truck was ready for 35s! So I did all of it (ok, a shop did most of it).
I am breaking in the gears now, so slow and no off-road yet. Eager to get it out to test before my trip to Texas for the Lone Star Land Cruiser Round Up in March.

Went with Bilstein 6112/5600 with heavy springs front and rear.
Method 709 wheels and 35x12.50R17 Firestone Destination M/T2 tires. I had the 275x70x18 Destinations previously and they were awesome on and off-road, so I stuck with those.

    DRT BMC

It rides high right now and I am curious how much it will settle. I already had a lift, so the back is about .5" higher and the front is 2" higher than the previous lift or ~3.5" front and ~2.5" in the rear. There is about a 1" rake remaining.

Havent been able to test anything more than leasure driving yet. No rubbing so far, will see if it rubs once I can get it off-road and stuff the tires.

Quirky problem that happened and I had to resolve: after the shop did all the suspension work, my reverse camera did not work! How are those related?!? So I asked the shop what they did with the electric/dash/wiring/etc and they confirmed they did not do anything except disconnect the battery while they welded. Truns out that caused it! I have anytime front and rear cameras (rear due to the swingout requiring a relocation. I left the stock one in-place and added a rear anytime camera). The head unit forgets some things when the battery is disconnected and it forgot there was a camera! The fix was odd, but easy. I had to turn off the truck, turn on the anytime camera (front or rear works) and then start the truck. During boot up, the head unit sees the camera signal and remebers that. After that, I can use the cameras normally and they work every time. Had to call the Anytime people to help me. They have great support with this and when I ran a wire to the rear and shorted the anytime camera wire by using it as a pull string (Doh!).

I need to reinstall 2 skid plates and went under to look, which led me to tightening bolts on my sliders and tank skid plate. After I finished I realized I will likely have to do that again soon and should have put some locktite on them. I will do that when I get the skids back on their, change the xfer oil and grease the drive shafts. And I better do those in reverse order or those skids will be in the way. :)

Impressive build! I’m curious to see how your suspension settles down. Headed down a similar path (milder since it’s my wife’s daily) and have suspension narrowed down to bilstein or dobinsons. Lift height is quite the conundrum cause her current job has her in a parking garage. She has applications out for a new position so maybe that changes before I pull the trigger

    Buy once, cry once. Haha

After “finishing” all my builds I definitely regret not going to max tire size right away. It would have saved me thousands in the end. Even with the 37s on the tundra I’m now looking at 38/39s after the regear and locker install next month.

    Some of my builds:

My favorite has been the 4runner since me and the wife both worked on it together. She installed the skid plates, sliders, bump stops, and helped with rear tire carrier.

The 5160’s I have on now are how I wanted the Fox Pro shocks to feel. Slightly firmer valving with noticeably less rebound.

Blacked out some emblems today. Found the Nightshade edition “4Runner” badge so it’s the real deal, not an overlay. Adhesive was a bitch! Got out the Goof Off! Works great on the adhesive, but ain’t so good for the plastic. Stopped using it, rinsed it off, and switched to WD-40 and elbow grease.

I nearly ordered up new parts, but thought, it’s a 134000 mile vehicle, it doesn’t need to be perfect.

Put on an Etsy piece that I hope will hold the gas cap better.

Also put on a Uni filter. Does that top cover not go back on?
