I caved to the temptation of sound Deadening :goingcrazy:and since blue is either all in or nothing, we go it all throughout. It has been a pain though. I had to get help as this was too much to chew on for one fellow.

or pretty dumb too. Or in between. :argue: I have to admit this has been the most tedious thing I have done to this rig. It looks simple and easy but the time required is real.

I don’t hate it. What someone does to their 4Runner is up to them. What I do find HYSTERICAL is how your wife is busting your balls. That is so my wife as well.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

How pissed would you be if you spent HOURS and HOURS pulling it all apart, installing the mat/insulation padding/putting it back together....and discovering that it had zero impact on deadening sound?

LOL. I pray that it helps your sound, otherwise your head may implode when you lose your shit.

i would not have done it had I not done it before and knew how important it is. And so this time I did it far more, in every place I could. All over the back of all plastics.

Don't take my word for it just type some prompt into google with "car audio forums" and everyone will say it's the most important thing to do.

It's also really not that much work.

I've read a lot of posts/forums and watched videos about it. I'm very tempted to do it. But fuck, it looks like a lot of work. I did see one video that said a lot of road noise came from the front wheel wells and if you could wrap those with insulation it would greatly reduce road noise. I don't if it's true or not, but the way the guy was talking he was pretty convincing.

    Really?

sheee-it brotha, I don't know, but this was intensive IMO. I can only do a few hours after work and the weekend. I got $hit everywhere, this wasn't easy at least for me. It better be worth it, else I'll come and find ya! It has to make a difference all of this damn material and glue everywhere. here and there and in between, it has to make a difference else I'll go:goingcrazy:

Any ETA on the total time spent?

All that work, attention to details, pulling entire interior to do job right and your comment is.......... I'll never understand peeing on someone's petunias for the heck of it.

From my experience (not to his level of persnickityness), OP will not be disappointed /his head remains intact/excrement where it belongs.

first thing that comea to my mind is “Man that a lot of wear and tear on the parking brake when its probably not needed”. In 37 years Ive been driving, Ive probably only used a parking brake 6 times and only on a steep hill.

and keep your foot on the brake before you put the parking brake on. Takes a littlw strain offf the gears.

Sound deadening really works. I only wrapped what I could reach inside my door panels when I did the Kicker speaker upgrade. The stereo obviously sounds better due to the speakers, but the doors no longer sound hollow or tinny when you close them. I can only imagine how much better it sounds with the whole truck covered like you guys have done.

It deepens. If you JUST want louder then you'd better do the doors and the trunk (if you have a car) or that shit is guna rattle and be REALLY annoying. And if you don't care about quality and just want alittle louder and better then it's probably not worth it.

I think it's worth it just to have a more quiet cabin for simply going down the freeway and talking to people in the car. Having a casual conversation with people int he back seat and not raising your voice as much over the road noise.

I really enjoy quality sound - like when you hear notes or instruments in songs you'd never heard before, and then put on a nice set of headphones or had a nice system in your car.

But I like this sorta thing. I love planning it out. researching, making lists, making changes asking forums, reddit, people IRL etc etc and then at the end you have something you did. You can put your stamp on it and enjoy that with a sense of pride contained within yourself because almost no one you run into would be able to appreciate it.

One of the things I'm most proud of on my 4runner is my upgraded Victron inverter. Almost no one will ever know it's even there. Even if someone used it they would think it's stock. And it was a lot of work. Very proud of the outcome.

I was shocked at how much noisier the cab of my 4R compared to the cab in my F150. I drive mainly dirt roads and the pinging of gravel off the body is MUCH louder in the 4R so I would love to do the sound deadening thing to it.

    But I'm just too lazy.................
