What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

The corrosion ate away and peeled the paint under the bracket. It's clean now.

 

I built it myself. Dimensions; Base - 38.1/2"L x 41"W x 2"H, Lid with overhang - 40.7/8"L x 43.1/2"W x 3/4"TH, inside depth, 2"H, outside depth, 2.3/4"H. Hope this helps.

 

Added extra bin in the cargo area.

 

That bin is very neat indeed . If you don't mind sharing with us, how did you do that or form that plastic piece to fit nicely with the rest?

Holy smokes… I did it! Made it through 1400+ pages!! Took me over a month… And really, I just skimmed. I stopped on pictures and links. I did get caught up in reading discussions of things a few times.

My phone and tablet are now ridiculously loaded with screenshots and bookmarks for ideas and products that I want to do / buy for the 4R.

Got a few things in the mail on their way to me… Like the Trail Grid Pro set of Kicker speakers. Haven’t decided what to do about a subwoofer yet. (Or head unit for that matter). Certainly not dropping 1800 f*****g dollars on a stealth box!

Yesterday while doing skid plate work I greased both of the drive shafts on my 4Runner. However I was only able to get to 4 of the 6 fittings, the rear most 2 fittings on the front drive shaft were blocked by what I'm assuming is a factory type skid/protection plate. However, before removing those two bolts and having some type of fluid come out at me, figured I would confirm here its just a protective plate. Thanks.

Ordered a Console Vault and an armrest molle panel from Fitztaprint. Anyone else get that panel? I want to use a pouch for small stuff so I don't have to open the CV all the time. Also want to know if I'm crazy for thinking I'll have some room in there for a small pouch.

 

1. easily removed lamin-x taillight tint over the break, the wife commented she hates the factory look now (I never know what her damn reactions will be), today I notice a little condensation in the housing..
Ignore it, or be concerned?










2. I think this is my rear brake line, probably due to 3/2 lift the protective jacket is ripped - seemingly from the bracket, the inside seems OK.
Should I be concerned?
Can I simply bend the bracket a bit to prevent further contact rubbing?

is this all I need for the ECGS needle bearing issue fix? I want to install in my garage. What do I need besides jack/stands?

1. Ooh new excuse for cool aftermarket tail lights
2. I had to bend my brackets to avoid this issue. If I were you I'd probably bend them now and wrap the cables with something to protect it from further damage. Kind of ghetto to wrap it buuut replacing the cable is kind of a pita

Just the E brake cable.
The regular brakes are all hydraulic

 

Order direct and get the tools too if you need them.

 

Get the tool as well, you won't be able to do it without it. Good luck and take your time with this one. You want to do it only once.

I'd just take the truck to Disturbed Industries out in Mission and have them do it. I believe they carry the bushings and install a lot of them.

Yep just a protective plate. No fluid will come out but probably lots of dirt. Need a 12mm socket to get those 2 bolts off.

 

Make sure you buy the seal too!!!! You'll want to buy all 4 items, Bushing, Seal, Removal Tool, Install Tool. If a shop is doing it and has the tools, you'll only need the bushing and seal.

I remember back in the early 90s in Pennsylvania, there was a gas station on route 202 and route 1 that used to sell race fuel for like $2.50 a gallon. We always would fuel up when we headed down to Cecil County to race. Man, those were the days!!
