Took my 2024 4Runner in for a diagnostic. 11,526 miles and "Oil Maintenance" alert showed. Had oil changed at 1,000 miles, and again at 5,000 miles. Why that alert came up was not understood by me from my trusted Service Writer. I saw this sign on my way out of the dealership driveway. (Poway Toyota) Think it was an omen?

 

The alert pops up 5000 miles after a reset.

 

OK. I was thinking of the accessory parts kit that hooks to the factory TE rails .

 

50K oil change today with 0w20 synthetic.
I use a 5K OCI but today decided to take a page from Icebear's book and leave the filter for 10K. It felt funny but it sure was nice not having to eff with the filter. I'll give it the once over when I pull it next time.

I also pulled the Lasfit LED headlights I put in about a year ago. They had good light output but over time I got to not liking the cut off line. Up in the dark woods by our cabin I just can't see as far ahead as I would like and we have a lot of elk, cattle, and horses up there. Now I put in Philips +130 halogens. We'll see how those go...

Oh no, the filter is the most important part of an oil change. That will do more damage than changing the filter but not the oil, synthetic oil can last 10k in certain circumstances, but never neglect the filter change.

I thought from comments on this forum 2024 4Runner oil is changed every 10,000 miles?

 

Changed oil and filter.....lubed the driveshafts.....rotated tires.

 

It is but the alert still pops up after 5K.

 

Remote start installed and working, also found a couple leaves lol.

right. I was on the fence about ditch lights on her 4r but thats cheap and im upgrading my ditch lights so its an easy decision now lol

I jumped on them too. Just arrived today. I may never do ditch lights, but for a buck and a half, they can lay on a shelf in the garage forever.

 

Hah, nice, that sounds like half my garage shelves. I wonder how much landed to Canada. eBay shows only two left and 5 sold in last 24 hours. Probably all 4Runners .com lol
