If you had just put 3 1/2 quarts back in, it would have been perfect. Good to know.

How easy was it to get off/on and did you have any help?

How long did you leave the Gobi on before doing this? We just installed ours last month and I’m concerned about washing/cleaning the roof.

I had it on for a good 3 years before I touched it once. I never did a thorough cleaning up on the roof during that time......but after some wear and tear on the rack, the powder coating in one area rubbed off and some rust formed. When it rained, that rusty water started to drip on the roof and discolor the paint. That's when I decided to start taking off the rack yearly for touch ups and a good roof scrubbing/waxing. Thankfully all the rust stain came off the paint with a clay bar and some cleaner wax.

The rack itself is not hard to take off. A trick I've learned is to unbolt the rack from the 4 brackets that connect to the headliner bolt holes. The front 2 do not need to be touched. They will lift up with the rack since they are not connected to the truck. Same with the wind faring. You can just leave it attached if you want.

Once you remove the 8 bolts, slide a couple of 6ft 1x4s between your roof and the rack. Lift up the back of the rack and place the 1x4 on top of the bracket and under the rack. Do the same with the middle set of brackets. Now the rack is sitting roughly 3/4 of an inch higher above where it was and you and another person can carefully slide to either the drivers or passengers side to get it off the roof.

I should have probably PPF'd the roof before the rack went on in the first place but I'd still want to take off the rack yearly to do touch up paint on it, so......

Did the yearly oil change today. It's the last time I'm doing it myself.

Maybe a year from now I'll feel different, but today was not my idea of a good time.

It's never a good time doing a 4Runners oil change. I do mine ever 3 months and I absolutely hate it. Oh what I would give for an yearly oil change. And mine is due next week.

Prep.... Just clean 500 times. Then clean again. Surface is rough enough, i didn't sand smooth.

Otherwise just take your time yanking panels off. I broke 932 clips and had to replace.

I did 4 coats on each panel.

Installed a Viofo A129 Plus dashcam with GPS wifi and 140° wide angle lense. So far so good, but the real test will be tomorrows drive into work to see how things appear for saved vids. Fingers crossed
