The gauge drops much faster than I’n actually burning fuel. I know about the 3 gallon reserve, so I’m not talking about that. But I’ll fill up and drive 10 miles and it will drop an eighth of a tank down. Never did that before and my actual MPG hasn’t changed.

AI thinks the float mechanism was affected somehow by my extreme angle outing. I tried disconnecting the battery because supposedly that would force the ECU to reestablish the link with the fuel reporting system and potentially help but I don’t think it did.

Buy a new-to-you enay basket and just swap it. Or recalibrate the ohm resistance on the sender...

Those both involve dropping the tank, right?

Replaced my steering wheel with a new perforated leather one for a Lexus GX470. My first thought when I took it out of the box was how nice it looked.

Before:My old one that is rubbed super smooth and slick, with a big flat groove on the top probably from prior owners rings.
    IMG_0701.jpg

    After:New Perforated leather steering wheel
    IMG_0682.jpgIMG_0730.jpg IMG_0762.jpg

Threw on a few stickers for some easy added Horsepower lol and replaced my license plate holder
    IMG_0748.jpg IMG_0744.jpg IMG_0740.jpg

Dry fitted my ARB Brushless compressor. Should be enough room and fit pretty decently in front of my second battery setup.

I left mine with the sunroof and back window open overnight. 2 inches of rain.... I just finished removeing the front seats and carpet and cleaning up the back. Got a couple of fans running now.

Hopefully you fully dry out and catch any issues early.

Getting the carpet out already is a huge part. Good luck with wrapping that repair up.

I think I'll be fine the radio is a bit foggy but still works, not really any water under the dash so I don't have to pull that.

Dang dude that sucks! Hopefully you get it all dried out in time.

I was going to suggest sound deadener while you’ve got it apart, but sounds like you’re already on that. I’ve been wanting to do mine, but haven’t wanted to take on the project yet.

Good luck to you sir! Can’t wait to see the finished posts with the sound deadener in.

Got my ARB Brushless CKBLA12 single onboard compressor install wrapped up under the hood.

I had mounted the compressor up Saturday pretty easily. The cam mount system is pretty slick and seems solid.
    IMG_0773.jpg IMG_0774.jpg

I did have some issues trying to figure out the wiring system for it as there is a BUNCH of extra that’s probably not needed for most people, but eventually got it all sorted out the next day after diagnosing it. I’ll post up the details in my build thread.

I hooked up the ignition wire into my seat heater 25amp fuse under the hood with a fuse tap.
    IMG_0924.jpg

I had an ARB Switch mount ordered that just came in today, so I got it all wrapped up this evening
    IMG_0927.jpg
    IMG_2882.jpg

I know I’ll always have a compressor with me from here out, so that makes it nice.

I like the ARB air up tool. Super convenient from the quick attach/detach chuck to the air bleed button on it
    IMG_0840.jpg

Did a test run and timed my tire air up. I have a 34” tire and went from 5psi to 35psi in 2min 35seconds

That's a clean install! Nice work and having tools on board without eating up interior space is a great thing! Well done!

Did a bunch of maintenance and an inexpensive upgrade I’ve looked forward to for a long time.

Changed engine oil, filter, and the oil in both diffs & the transfer case; greased the driveshaft and (aftermarket) sway bar bushings/links; and rotated the tires.

The upgrade: no more fighting with the hex on the front diff drain plug! Replaced it with the equivalent Lexus part, which has a 14mm bolt instead. Just dripping with irony that the luxury brand would have the easier plug.

    IMG_4599.jpg

More to come on the diff oil.

I was encouraged when I changed the transfer case oil. It and the front diff had about 35K miles on them. That’s the plug in the bottom. By the color, looks like it could’ve come from the tap at the local beer joint. LOL

    IMG_4596.jpg

Front diff Was a different story. Nothing worrisome on the magnet, just the usual paste.

    IMG_4600.jpg

Next up is a full cooling system restoration. I bought all OEM parts a year or so ago during a really nice Toyota sale. I’ll be replacing the water pump, radiator, fan clutch, thermostat, and hoses.

Hit 285K today. Bought her in 2014 with 96K miles. My mechanic at the time, responding to my concern about a used vehicle with that many miles: “96K on a 4Runner? It’s just getting started!” He was right. Hands down the best vehicle I’ve ever had.

@Cwilliams563 How difficult is the process to change the steering wheel?

Believe it or not, it was really pretty easy. I was kind of worried and intimidated, but one of the easier mods I’ve done!

I didn’t time it but I took my time, and a bunch of pics, and probably did it in less than an hour and a half. I’m sure it could easily be done in less than 1 hour.

    • Straighten steering wheel as straight as you can, so the whole wheel and column are perfectly lined, then turn off vehicle
    • Take off positive battery terminal
    • Pop the side covers off
    • Remove 2- #27 Torx screws and swing out of way while leaving them in their plastic cradles
    • Pull horn/airbag front out slowly and carefully
    • Unclip airbag wires and steering wheel controls
    • Take out a few Phillips screws
    • Take out center 19mm nut which is broken pretty easy
    • Hardest part is breaking the steering wheel loose from the splines, which took maybe 1 minute or so
    • Remove steering wheel and remove the rest of the components
    • Start building pieces on new wheel
    • Slide new wheel back on in same orientation
    • Do the steps in reverse

One note, pay attention & or take a picture of the cruise control switch and how it goes in. It’s kind of funky and screwed in a lot closer to the center of the wheel than I’d thought

I do have a bunch of pics of the process in my build thread which is in my signature

Fit for 2003-2009 Lexus GX470 perforated leather steering wheel

At the time I had bought it, they had a 20% off so I saved like $43 off the $219 which was too enticing to pass up.
