    Stock (I think)
I have just purchased a 2004 black 4runner. One of the previous owners removed the lettering (SR5 or Sport Ed.)from the door. It has leather gear shift, seats and steering wheel. I do not see Xreas, but it may have been removed. No hood scoop. But It has 17" rims and the sticker in the door confirms it came with 265/65 R17 s. Is it a SR5 with 17"rims from the factory or a sport ed with no hood scoop? Regardless I have enjoyed the vehicle the the short time I have had it. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

    Welcome to 4runner!

It may help if you can post some pictures of it. Exterior and interior.

Look up your VIN number, it should give you all the info you are looking for.

4 Runners and Tacoma’s are probably the favourite and most modded vehicles in production right now so don’t assume anything about your vehicle unless you’re certain of the vehicle history. Chasing the VIN at the dealer sounds like a good start to see what it started it’s life as.

Too many mods and too much money
Car Fax has good info as well. I found that my 03' Sport was purchased by the Treasury dept in Atlanta and imported from Germany. After that there were several Washington DC registrations and a few in Jax, Florida. So Im thinking someone in the Military was the original owner who drove it during his assignment in Germany, and then brough it home when he was reassigned. I think there were a few different options between the SR5 and Sport editions. I have 17" rims but not the larger size brakes that supposedly came on the Sport. I also found through the VIN that my 88' DLX spent it's whole life in central Florida, which resulted in very little rust on the body and none underneath on the frame and suspension. The history of cars can be a cool thing to investigate. Good Luck and Welcome!
