I’ve had my 4Runner for just at 2 months now. I’ve yet to apply any wax. It is white, I know there have been issues with this color. What wax do y’all recommend, and how soon should I wax it?

I’ve never waxed mine and the paint looks just fine despite seven harsh Colorado winters.

I would keep the wax away from any unpainted plastic surfaces or rubber trim.

I use Turtle Ice. It's a spray-on. You apply it with a microfiber cloth or two, and go over again with a clean one to buff. It doesn't take long (an hour?), and overspray onto glass or plastic ends up being invisible. And it's safe on all that stuff, too. I also use it on my wheels (standard black/silver TRDOR 7-spoke), and it's great there as well. In the past I've been like Land Cruiser because I had beige vehicles or some other light color. My current Nautical Blue shows stuff too easily, and the wax really brings it to life. FYI, I apply it to the top, but I don't buff it there. In my mind I get a little more protection from the sun that way.

I think you should hand wax once a year in my opinion. Twice if you live in harsh suns like Arizona or Florida.

a poly wax will last longer. Griots, meguiars, mother’s, turtle, etc. I wouldn’t worry too much about brand. Spray on waxes or spray on ceramic coatings will help keep things clean in between.

I’m going to be in the market for a white 4Runner. ….going to be a 2022 model. What’s this about your comment with white having “issues”? One would think that white would be one of the safest and easiest to care for color choices? I did test drive a brand new white 2021 4Runner last October and the white looked perfectly fine to me. Please elaborate. Thanks.

Griots 3-in-1 ceramic- you can use it on the entire car - even the windows- I have gotten good results applying after every wash
Spray on buff off - easy !!

    Any product with SIO-2 -otherwise

This is exactly what I do.

I have white paint. Despite all the whining about white, mine is fine so far.

I wash it once every 3 weeks or so.

1 wax a year using Meguiars poly wax (brand doesn't matter).

1 wax per year of their spray on "instant" wax.

Wash/spray wax once a week, hard hand wax once a month, clay bar and hand rub once a year. Every oil change I lubricate every single moving part and hinge, and recondition rubber.

I wash / wax mine once a month, then give it the "whoore's bath" weekly (Chemical guys detail spray wipe down, wheel, and window cleaner) until the next month

"Armor All" will take the wax right off of those surfaces. No worries. One swipe with a rag/sponge and the wax is gone.

I paste wax twice a year. Spring, after the snow stops falling, and fall before temps get too low. Did the fall wax last week.

Yep, you can tell it's good stuff from all the warnings.

When we lived in Ann Arbor I remember the local Harley dealer telling me that they used Honda detail spray on their showroom bikes. I used it on a couple of motorcycles and liked it. Now I'm using Meguiars products on my 4-wheel vehicles. Their Gold Class car wash suds alone does a nice job.

Any decent ceramic coat you can do at home. I do it once a year and use a hybrid spray ceramic coating every couple of washes.

Forget the wax better off going with a sealant or ceramic coating. For exterior trim use Carpro DLux coating. Works better than Armor All or 303 and won't wash off.
