Here I am knuckle deep in a lift kit on my super duty and the brand new floor jack my wife bought me for xmas doesn’t wanna work. Can’t even get my truck off the flipping jack stands!!! I hate cheap tools with a passion. I never buy cheap tools, it’s always the best. But my wife, trying to be sweet, threw in an extra gift for me and asked my my dimwit son in law (who spends 99% of his time playing video games) if this would be a good jack. He of course buys cheap crap and said it would be good one.
I’m soooo pissed at the moment I can’t even think straight.
Have I mentioned my sincere dislike for shitty tools?

Use the jack from the 4runner just to get her down.
Or the scissor jack with the super duty.
    Yes, cheap tools suck.
    Buy it once.
    I own a '04 F-250 also. I know the pain!

Good idea. I’ve got another jack in the other shop. Just didn’t feel like getting it tonight. I’m tired. I finished the rear lift this evening and will finished the front tomorrow with a different jack.

What year is your super duty?
Mine is the 6 leaker but I & a friend have one; so long as you don't race it...
It has been a great truck to me.
14yrs & counting with 132k miles on the ticker...
    Rather drive the T4R !

Mine is an 04 as well. 6.0 too, with right at 100k miles on it. The head gaskets, EGR delete, and new oil cooler done about 20k miles ago. The truck runs amazing. I installed a 40HP FICM on it last summer which completely changed the way it drives. I love this truck and won’t ever sell it. It’s got the largest back seat I’ve ever seen on any truck.

But to be honest, if I didn’t NEED a diesel, I’d never own one.

Sorry, I cannot like that comment. Lol
I love my diesel trucks & would have one even if I didn't need it...
With a flatbed on it; it is way to practical. Also, being 6'4" I enjoy the size of them.

I’ll probably be putting a flatbed on mine this summer. Not sure yet. It would definitely benefit my needs but man they’re so ugly in the Fords. Lol

My daughter and her husband each have a dodge cummins so we’re all three always doggin the other’s diesel.

I am eyeballing the new 7.3 gas super duty they just came out with. It will definitely handle anything the diesel will. I’m just sick of the diesels really.

    My good sir,
    That is blasphemy!
Nothing can beat the torque of a diesel. Maybe an electric motor...

Definitely and electric motor. That’s what drives modern locomotives. Diesel generators power electric traction motors.

The new Ford 7.3 gasser is coming in at about 100 more HP and 10fp more torque than the 6.0 diesel. I could live with that.

At 46 years old, you feel it when you’ve crawled under a truck hours on end. The lift is all done, she’s sittin purdy. In a few days I get to do it all over again on the TRD. But those bolts will be njce and purdy, and no mud constantly falling in my eyes.

The SD lift had a few challenges. The worst was having to remove the exhaust pipe feom the turbo down to remove that leaf bolt. Also all the mud and rusted bolts. Glad it’s done.

If I ever get rid of the 4 it will be for this motor and truck. Between that motor and the overbuilt chassis it should be the last vehicle I will ever have to buy unless they phase out gasoline.

Please, don't do yourself this disservice!
Diesel trucks have their place & may be towing, hauling & plowing. If you don't need it that is fine.
It is an untested and unknown engine.
Also, nothing beats a diesel when it comes to longevity.
Price, purpose and tolerance of a new platform is heavily needed.
Remember the 6.0's in the beginning!

I definitely don’t agree with many of your points of diesel verses gassers. There are many gas engines these days that are lasting just as long as the diesels. And there are only a couple of things that sets diesels apart from gas engines - their torque, and the RPM’s in which they build it. But gas engines are closing that gap. As stated, the new 7.3 gasser exceeds the capabilities of the 6.0 diesel. And the ecoboost engines have some unbelievable power and torque for a small engine.
However, diesels have many many disadvantages as well.

There are lots of people out there that just think diesels are cool and want to own one but I’m certainly not one of them. I own one simply because I tow a very heavy load regularly. If it wasn’t for that, my son would own this truck and I’d own anything that’s not a diesel.

Right on. My excursion had an 8" lift when I bought It. I wish it had a 6" the 8" is a bit too tall. It's definitely cool but not practical at all.

How cheap is cheap? Even Harbor Freight will let you return for a free replacement if it doesn't work. Their floor jacks are excellent- though I've never lifted anything as heavy as a 3/4 ton.

Yeah 8” is a bit too much. I tow a 12k pound trailer nearly daily so i need to maintain functionality. Not to mention it seems like I’m hauling a car trailer with either my daughter’s cummins on it, or her husbands cummins on it pretty regularly these days. Lol

The jack she bought me was like $120. It came from a local farm store with a 30 day return policy. And it’s been around 100 or so. Harbor freight does sell a good jack. There was one there I’ve been wanting.
My truck weighs 8400# so it’s not light by any stretch.

And I usually have a truck bed full of tools and many gallons of chemicals which only adds to the weight.

I've got airbags which is nice for the weight but definitely not ideal for towing. Congrats on the lift that will be cool!

thank you. It’s just me trying to make it more functional for my off road needs while compromising for on road duty as well. I’m a huge outdoorsman and spend a lot of time hunting and getting into some nasty places. I’ve been running 33” tires on it forever but really needed to move up to 35’s. We take this truck on family vacations too so needs to have good on road manners. The bed on this truck is about the only thing that will haul my wife’s luggage! Lmao
