I would like to have that on mine, but I don't want to spend for the TRD so-called cold air intake. Is it available separately? Did you install yourself?

    Yes I installed it myself.

The Toyota branded ones are getting scarce I think but you might find one if you do a little hunting. If you can’t find one, not to worry. @GrizzlyPro in this thread got the same item without the Toyota branding from NAPA. Part number FIL4801.

    You may need this grommet.

A block of wood and towel to avoid scratches. These are used to prop the hood up slightly to keep my battery tender hooked up over winter. It’s almost time for her to come out to play.

Where did you source the grommet from? The Amazon link in post #9 did not return any specific product...

Good morning, Gary. I am pulling the trigger on this mod and starting to gather the pieces. I too found the Amazon links useless. I have reached out to Donaldson for a quote, and I plan to visit a local Napa store on Monday (closed today). I will let you know findings.

Ha would you believe that wooden block has been around for probably 30 plus years. I remember my Grandfather notching it out to use jack up his boat trailer for the winter (now my boat through inheritance). It is the only thing tall enough I had to prop up the hood just enough. I did not want to leave the hood up all winter and this way it’s up a few inches and I can still get the cover down to the bumper.

Love it!! Id have done the same thing in not keeping the hood up all winter. And yes, keep that block forever. It’s got sentimental value.

It's funny to think about all of the tools that follow us around for so many years.
Just today, installing new wheels & tires on my neighbors Trans Am, I used a torque wrench that I remember using back in the 1960's while helping my Dad work on our vehicles. In High School I made a set of car ramps out of 1" angle iron that are still in use today. And I'm pushing 67yo.

That’s ironic I have a set of wooden hand made ramps my Grandpa used to change oil on his Econoline van. I don’t trust them for a vehicle despite being inside. I used them for odd things like lawn mower etc. I remember years ago losing a coworker when a car fell on him changing his girlfriend’s oil. I am always extra safe with that stuff now. But I still have Grandpas old ramps, tools, and fishing equipment

That old fishing stuff still works well too. The fish have no idea how old it is :)

    2019 4Runner TRDORP
I have a 1/2 drive standard socket set from K-Mart that my mother's father (self taught engineer that designed cars and trucks for General Motors) gave me when I was probably twelve years old so that I could do my own work on my bicycle. I will be 65 this year, and I have only broken one socket out of that cheap tool set and still use it occasionally as a professional.

Attention Shoppers, we have a blue light special.
We had one local to us back in the day in SoCal. It was the predecessor of many of the big box stores of today.
In another town near our place now, one of the last remaining stores was recently closed forever.

Both of you sound like the right kind of “not-normal” to me! Scrap wood (or plastic or metal) is often more useful than getting fresh material at the store.

It’s just that, sometimes, a piece of scrap has to wait 20 years before it finds its purpose lol. But when that day comes, it will be glorious :p:D

Amen. I've had several neighbors who've replaced fencing, and I've turned their old fence boards into any number of furniture pieces around my and other's houses around me.

What's happening here? You took the plastic mice-shelter from a Tundra and stuck it on your 4.0L?
