If I lock the car with the fob and unlock shortly after everything works as it should, first press unlocks drivers door, second all doors.

if I leave the car for a few minutes and unlock with the fob the alarm goes off and I have to use the key to stop it.

I have 2 fobs programmed and both behave the same way.

    Anyone have any ideas?

How old is the battery in the runner? Sometimes it goes a little goofy when the battery is going out.

    Funny you would say that.

I’m prepping this one for my daughter out in SW Colorado, she’s a field guide and spends a lot of time in the boonies.

The old battery tested weak today so I swapped it out with a group 34, it had an old group 25.

I didn’t test if after the swap I will tomorrow.

Hold on? The key turns off the alarm? Well, there goes my “hide a key under the front-end and it won’t start without the fob idea.”

Just removed my spare key. I have my alarm set to arm, with doors unlocked, but sometimes it will lock, on its own.

There are a few settings you can change on the brain, I have the manual.
Like auto arm, auto lock, turn the chirp off. And add new fobs. pretty sure it’s the same for yours.

Are those instructions in the owners manual? I programmed a couple of fobs today, it wasn’t easy since the drivers door lock cylinder was worn out and the actuators were tired so I swapped the lock cylinder with the passengers side. My hands are now a mess.

Annoying it still does the same thing I need to unlock the doors with the key if I use the fob when more than a few minutes have passed the alarm goes off and I have to use the key to turn the alarm off and open the doors.

So after reading the alarm portion of the manual I think the issues is that the alarm arms after 30 seconds and for some reason when I use the fob it thinks I’m forcing the lock on the door.
