I ordered a 4Runner Off-Road with KDSS on the 19th of June and am still waiting on allocation. I called the dealership today, to verify. They said it may not happen until the end of July of not later.

Waiting to go on vacation until we get it, since I can't drive my Rubicon more than 3 hours without having back problems. The 4Runner I drove was a million times more comfortable.

Hoping to get a cabin up in Northern Minnesota and do a bit of exploring on the tamer trails and dirt roads up around Superior Natural Forest and the North Shore.

I ordered mine ORP with KDSS in the third week of June as well and I got confirmation from the dealer that my build date is next week. Expecting the vehicle middle of August.

Yeah I’ve seen at least a couple other members ordering this same configuration lately.

Seems to be a renewed interest Nautical Blue, even though it’s been around for quite a while. Same for KDSS.

It was a toss up between the blue and the charcoal gray for me. My 83 LB 4wd yota was blue, so that was what pushed me that direction. As far as the KDSS, since the 5th gen isn't really easy to squeeze big tires under, I won't be putting a big lift under it, so it just makes sense for what I will be doing, which is about 95% commuting, in all conditions, and 5% overlanding/off-roading. The extra thick sway bar should come in handy, and then become a nice leverage arm off-road.

Leaving the Rubicon, I really wanted to minimize how much capability I am losing, so it seemed a no brainer. The plan is for it to be covered in dirt from Northern Minnesota before it's more than a month old.

    All of them.
I second this. Don’t waste time because that specific 4Runner isn’t here yet. Make those memories now. There are a few companies that rent off road capable vehicles that are built around the overland community. You could rent a 4R from them and have a great time doing it. I know it’s easier said than done but it can happen.

The rental options around me are underwhelming and prohibitively expensive. It would be a 6 hour round trip to get one, if they were available, and run over $1000 a week.

I’m currently in a rental SUV for a business trip and it’s $963 for 22 days

I would be hard pressed to get a sub compact around here for that price for a week. Des Moines isn't exactly a tourist hot spot.

Beautiful choice, congrats. The Southtowns snow is NO match for a 4Runner!

Blue was my 1st choice, so in my mind you made the perfect one. Love the color.

We signed paperwork and put a deposit down on our Pro on the 15th of March.
Dealer got allocation at the end of May
    Built on 6/7
    Landed at port on 6/30
    Expected delivery is 7/27-8/2

Long story short, once your dealer gets the allocation, the vehicle still has to be built in Japan. Then you have to wait about a month for it to get to port. Then about 2-4 weeks for delivery.

Unfortunately, that means you're still at least 2 months out, unless your dealer is able to snag one that's already at port before any add-ons are installed.

Are you in MN or surrounding area? Just moved back to Woodbury and also looking to get up north for some exploration.

As an update to this thread, I ended up buying a used GX460. Super happy with it and love the smallish V8. Looking forward to build it over the next few years. While I aesthetically prefer looking at the 4Runner, I absolutely love the driving dynamics of the Lexus.
