I want to remove my running boards but I’m a visual learner so I’m trying to find a decent walk through video on how to do this.

What all would I need to do it also? (I have limited tools so need to know if I gotta run to the store first.) From vids I found of other gens it’s like 3 sets of bolts? But I could not find any that show for my year or close too.

I’m not putting on rock sliders atm but just tired of the boards.

Locate your bolts for removal....get your wrench/socket and start removing bolts.....can remove the middle bolts then remove the fronts or the rears and lower the rails one end at a time if you're working alone.

Pretty much the same as the other gens. Will be either 5 to 6 bolts each depending on what is on there now. Should need a 12 or 13mm socket or wrench. If you don't have a socket set. Now is a good time to invest in a metric set at a minimum. Dont go cheap, you get what you pay for. Good mid tier is husky from the orange store. Remove like @BS67 mentions in the post above.

Put the bolts back in the holes after you remove the steps to keep the threaded holes from getting corroded / filled with dirt and grime.

If working alone, a stack of a couple cardboard boxs fitted from board center to ground will simplify.

Tysm! Especially advice on the socket wrench set. I will be working alone so I appreciate those tips from all!

Is there any harm in removing the mudflaps also? Or I can just pop out those out no issue or should do something after?

removing the mudflaps will leave an open area in the wheel well area. there are mudflap delete kits that cover that up, or some have just cut off the area outside the fender.

When I removed mine, I put some grease/oil on the running board bolts and put them back in the holes where they came from to prevent rust. And I know where they are if I want to reinstall the running boards.

I purchased a set of flex head box end wrenches -very fine ratcheting. When wrenching in tight spaces, the fine ratching really speeds up bolting removal or tightening. Complements a standard ratched wrench set.

Flex head ratcheting wrenches are on my list but after almost 30 years of twisting my own wrenches, I've not had a need for them yet. I've definitely cut up and welded tools to make them work over the years.

They’re really not heavy enough to require any specialized thinking for removal. If you’re worried about them getting nicked by falling on your driveway surface use your yard or an old blanket works well too.
