    Evening everyone,

Starting my first post off with a question. I currently have a 3rd gen tacoma that I love, but have always wanted a 4runner as it will fit better for the family.

I'm torn on which trim to get as I'm stuck between the TRD Off Road and TRD Off Road Premium.

I found a 23 OR near me that still has power fron seat (non heated but i wouldnt miss that), and auto high beams (unsure if it would have auto headlights as well?)

I don't care for moonroofs and will honestly be putting a prinsu on top anyway so one would be useless, but the only thing I'm really wanting is the nicer leather seats.

Curious if anyone else has been in the same dilemma. The difference I'm seeing is about 4k between the two models with similar miles. Are the nicer seats worth the price difference or should I just get a set of clazzios and call it a day?

    Thanks everyone!

There are some other features you will find between the Off Road and the Premium, but if the “leather” seats is the main difference you like, consider that it’s Softex, not real leather. I love it and it’s super durable, but if I had cloth seats I’d have Katzkin put in tomorrow. I’ve had it in 4 previous vehicles and it’s the bomb. Also, depending on where you are, it might be difficult to find one without a moonroof. Down here in the gulf states area almost every one has it.

Too poor to buy anything now
The amount of off roading might be a consideration. Both are adequate though.
    And welcome to the forum.

Totally thought this would be a tire fitment thread. lol.

Here are some differences between the late model regular off road and off road premium. (depending on how it was optioned)
    -Blind spot monitors
    -360 Cameras
    -Rear cross traffic detection
    -Automatic high beams

Along with the better seats the one I wouldn't want to give up would be the 360 cameras. Very useful. Although, the video quality is pretty poor and the aftermarket has some great options now. (anytime camera, wolfbox, etc)

Really you can't go wrong with either trim. So just go with the fairest price, best maintenance history and least rust!

My vote is for the Off Road, as I had no interest in either the softex seats or a sun/moon roof. The passenger seat being manual adjustment doesn't matter to me, as only my wife sits there, and never needs to adjust the seat.

I'd use the savings toward real leather seats.

Auto high beams yes, auto headlights I don't think so.

But yea, I'd say Off Road but get quotes on how much it'll cost to either get the seats redone or maybe swapped in from a crashed 4Runner.

I went with TRDOR on my 2019 specifically because i wanted cloth seats, and I like mine. That said, pretty much everyone on here likes the Softex, which the ORP comes with.

I was able to get a 19 TRD Off Road Premium without the sun roof since it is an option anyway. Softex seats with power are so worth it!

2019 is the best year IMO.

I would go out of my way to find an example without a moonroof. More headroom and lower chance of leaks, so get the OR :) Put Clazzios, Katskins, Wet Okoles, whatever.

best price, best condition, then make decisions based on wants. Buying a used vehicle, you don't get to be as picky. In fact, when I shopped use, I based everything on price and condition. When I buy new, I am very picky and will wait a long time. But even when waiting almost a year, I was not able to get a no sunroof runner.

I wanted all the extras in the premium when I purchased. The sunroof was optional even with the premium and I regret getting it because I never use it and you lose headroom. At least for CA, they couldn't order a premium with a sliding tray so I missed out on that too. Premiums without a sunroof does exist.

The softex seats are meh over time.

My softex are warn there too, but still holding together unlike my Acura TL's leather seats that completely fell apart.

Let us know when it finally falls apart, if we are all still alive. lol

My TL's seats looked like this:
