I've been driving Toyotas since the day I turned 16. My first truck was an 87 solid axle hilux on 35's with a blown motor I picked up for $1000 in 1993. I went from that to a 94 Turbo Supra, then a 96 Twin Turbo Supra. Had both Supras until 2002 when I sold them. I've had Tacomas (99, 04, 06, 09, 13, 16) along side the Supras and have been in a Taco ever since. I've always considered getting a T4R, but never did until now.

Recently traded my 16 Tacoma TRD OffRoad 6MT for a 17 T4R TRD OffRoad with 20k on the clock.

I built the Tacoma to the brink of doing a SAS to D60's but hit a snag when Marlin Crawler stopped production on the crawl box for the MT trucks due to a 19 spline output shaft issue. The truck then developed excessive valve noise which turned out to be a bank of burnt valves. The dealer offered me $28k on trade so I bought the only 4wd T4R on the lot. (South Florida problems).

Here's the Tacoma that I loved to hate...

And here's the T4R. I'm so glad to be back in a 4.0.

I ordered 5100's for all 4 corners, pro grill assembly, and blackout kit for the badging.

Not planning to wheel this one too hard as I will be getting a single cab 2nd gen tacoma to wheel.

    Here’s the lift plan...

Because I’m not going to beat on this rig too hard, I’m only going to go 1.75 on the 5100’s with the stock coils and I got 1” lift coils for the rear and 5100’s. I’m assuming I’ll be able to fit 285/70’s with some minor trimming and a CMC, right?

From what I've read so far, yes. I just purchased a 19 SR5 4x4 T4R for the wife and am looking tho doi the same ad you. Seems like you'll need to ditch the front mud flaps if you haven't already.

You might not even need the CMC/BMC. I've seen people run 285 with no lift and minor fender liner trimming on stock wheels/offset.

    Welcome from UT!

Yea I'm gonna have to take the time off. I've worked every labor day for 7 or 8 years. Let's hit the compound next month.
