Looking for Opinions because I am on the fence... Thank you!

I'm still on the original tires that came with our 2024 ORP. I am going to try and get through 1 more year of burning up the tread on them before getting new All Terrain tires. Purchasing new tires has me thinking about possibly upgrading the wheels as well. I know the TRD Pro wheels appear to be the go-to upgrade (Black seems most popular).

    • Does anyone prefer the TRD ORP Wheels over the TRD Pro Wheels? I have read that the TRD Pro wheels can be hard to clean. Outside of saving money on one less upgrade and ease of cleaning, any other advantages of keeping the TRD ORP Wheels over the TRD Pro?

    • Does anyone have the TRD Pro Matte Gray/Gloss Gun Metal over the black TRD Pro Wheels? If so, what was your reasoning behind going with the Gray over Black? Most of what I see in my area is black TRD Pro wheels, so I am leaning more toward the Matte Gray to be a little different. I also am considering changing my overlays to Matte Gray/Gun Metal to match the wheels for a unique look (wife isn't a fan of the storm trooper look, but I'm still undecided).

I can get by this winter, but I'm trying to make a decision before next winter. I see that there were Black Friday sales on the TRD Pro Wheels with the dealer 25% Black Friday discount, but I'm not ready to pull the trigger just yet. Still deciding on what I want going forward.

For what it's worth, I checked FaceBook Marketplace and most of the listings I see are TRD ORP Wheels which I assume are tied to people upgrading to the TRD Pro or another aftermarket wheel. It seems like people are eager to upgrade the TRP ORP Wheels - I'm not sure if there is something people don't like about the TRP ORP Wheel or if the TRD Pro is considered a more premium wheel because it's association to the Pro Trim.

I appreciate any info/opinions on this.

Run them both. Get a set of Pro wheels and put winter tires on them and keep the OR wheels and tires for summer

ORP wheels are wider with more offset than the oem Pro wheels.

The Pro Bro wheels are just for looks. As I understand it they are narrower than the TRD wheels.

To be honest, I didn't even consider the Bronze. I'm looking up pictures of them now. Probably overthinking it, but don't want to have any regrets if I switch away from the TRD ORP. Thank you!

Me personally love TRD Offroad wheels been wider, having extra valve stem protection. To my eyes it looks very clean.

Why not just get some decent aftermarket wheels?

So many different brands offering quality wheels. Just when buying aftermarket, make sure to pay attention to wheel weight, load rating, and offset/backspacing.

    I wish mine were grey.

If you going to buy a new set of wheels, I don't think TRD Pro wheels are the best choice.

My opinion? The ORP wheels look great on white. And the gray Pro wheels look even better.
I'm not a fan of black wheels all the time, particularly on white. Looks like wearing white gym shorts and black shoes, y'know?

When I was shopping for mine, somebody around here posted a pic of a white T4R with the gray Pro wheels. I was sold.

We have a Nautical Blue 4R bought new '16 and the some of the reasons that I choose the Matte Gray were that quite a few around here have shiny or black. I think that the black gets lost against the NB so we choose the Matte Gray. But probably the best reason is that my Wife is a great negotiator and she got the price on the MG wheels down to $60 per wheel when she was talking with sales and financing Ladies. I just played the part of the Husband in the corner wanting more eye candy.
I still have the stock shiny Trail Premium wheels & worn out Dunflop's. They only lasted 12,000 miles.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 35 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 35yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
I liked the way they look. At this time it is a mall crawling garage queen w/12K miles in 3yrs, I’ve got other toys to beat on. I have better tires since this photo which is the only change since new.IMG_2187.jpg

+1 for the TRD Off-Road wheels. Never been a fan of all black wheels (looks like missing hubcaps imo if there’s no accenting) and the machined spokes on the OR wheels is enough “bling” to contrast the magnetic gray and match the other silver accents that’s on the truck.

Personally I love the ORP wheels. We run them on 2 pre face lifts 5th gen runners and my first gen tacoma. They look good on almost anything and are one of the better wheels out there.

The pro wheels are 7" wide vs 7 1/2" for the ORP's. The extra 1/2" opens up more tire options. The ORP wheels also have, as @kmeeg mentioned, the valve stem is well protected. If you only crawl at the mall, get what you like. If you do any semi-serious off roading, the ORP's are probably a better choice. It really sucks to get a flat from a pulled out valve.

+1 for the Off Road wheels. The Pro ones, and this is just my opinion, give Bro Pro vibes and while they are a nice looking wheel, they are very played out (at least where I live). I really like the look of Method whels on 4R's.

There's at least one other thread on the differences and benefits.

If you care about my opinion, it is that the OR wheels are better - they are wider and feature a valve stem guard, so they fit a bigger range of tires and they better protect the valve stem off-road.

I personally think they look great too, but I will allow that is subjective.

I sought out some to replace my OEM 19" Lexus trash... new emblem and I was GTG...

My favorite wheel on a 4R is the OR wheel. It looks good on every color 4Runner. Other wheels tend to look good on certain colors. And they are extremely easy to clean. I use Turtle Ice spray wax and a microfiber cloth, and it literally takes me 3 minutes per wheel to have them shiny again (rinse them first). The wax gets the brake dust off as well. The 1/2" extra width and valve stem protection are pluses that I was unaware of.

Agreed. Wheels, badges, and valances balance out perfectly, especially on an MGM 4R.

I have a '23 ORP. When I went to pick it up there was an apology sticker on the window saying, we ran out of ORP wheels and had to give you pro wheels. Well hell, thank you toyota, you just saved me a couple grand in aftermarket rims! And yes, I did get the black replacement lug nuts.

I have thought about that since new but now I think I would go body color.
