So I'm considering the Baja Basket insert for my TRD Pro roof rack. Anyone on here have one? Wind noise increase? I was also looking for some netting to use with this rack to secure the items in it. Thoughts, recommendations?

I keep debating on ordering it as well but just haven’t seen enough reviews on it. Would be great to see some reviews. I also wonder how the struts hold up with the added weight of the ladder.

I had one and ended up getting rid of it for the Gobi full length. I noticed no additional noise versus the pro rack. I did see a very slight loss of mpg (0.25).

My thoughts are that it was built very well and certainly made the pro rack more useful. I wish it had cross bars in the middle for easier mounting but it’s a good product if it fits your needs versus the full length.

Looks good on your AG. Was the wind deflector blank like that or did you take the Baja logo off?

I removed the Baja logo. Here is a picture of it removed. AF681309-E53A-4365-A7E5-D362BC34166D.jpg

im assuming you’re talking about the Baja rack for wind noise?

how about the Gobi? I’m thinking of getting one but don’t want too much wind noise. I don’t have any wind noise currently with the trd pro roof rack. Is the Gobi comparable or more noisy?

The pro rack as a whole is pretty useless if you plan to haul anything of substance.

Is it good for basic camping stuff, etc. Nothing majorly heavy?

It lacks length, so anything longer will be unsupported and sitting on your roof. I was put off by the height as well, it's very tall for what it is. Your needs considered, it would work but I advise you entertain all options.

What are you looking for in a rack? Length, features etc

Trying to utilize something that by itself is useless so this looks like an option with out replacing the whole thing, thx

Finally got the basket in and got it on the truck along with the ladder. Simple install my myself (blankets on the roof during install encouraged) and I noticed no wind noise. The directions include a list of accessories one can add to the basket. Gas and water pack holders, recovery boards, shovels, awnings; the usual.

I don’t plan any serious overlanding, so this should work out well. Just going to put water and gas up top when we go looking for topaz. 200 lb. capacity, which is more than the original rack was rated.

Honestly just something to carry things I can’t fit in the trunk. Something that looks nice, but doesn’t cost a fortune. Maybe a half rack? I don’t know if I’d use a full rack enough to justify the price.

3/4 rack is what you want probably. Sherpa, LFD and Prinsu I have experience with and they all make a solid product. There are many manufacturers that produce a rack in that form factor.

The Gobi rack does have a slight amount of noise versus the Baja (pretty much no noise). It's very little and certainly not a concern if the deflector is positioned correctly. The tire noise is more noticeable than the Gobi rack on my 4Runner (with sound dampening). I am running the open air stealth model from Gobi which might be a little quieter than the standard.

Nice! mine is the same color so it really shows me what it would look like. I have Westcott Designs sliders that I recently installed, tint going on shortly and then I'll post some pics, probably going to replace the LED license plate lights back to OEM, getting light reflection causing the camera to look even worse than before

Thanks. Good choice on your color. The tint will really set that lime off.

I’m probably going to take the ‘Baja Rack’ logo off the deflector like Horizon did. It looks like a rolling billboard up there…

I didn't notice it unless I really zoomed in on the pic

For your 285's on there, you have a lift or no?

At the risk of hearing about it, I am stock Pro lift from the factory. I have not heard or seen them rub yet, so I would like to think all is right with the world.

I was going to get a Wescott lift when I bought it, but I don’t see the need at this time.

Nice! I've seen posts on here saying similar things about "no rub" with the size, etc My local shop would check before selling me something that would. I figure when I need new tires I'll upgrade them. I was also going to buy the Westcott Designs lift, had it ordered and then I discovered the whole "warranty" coverage question so I cancelled that. The sales rep wasn't too happy buy I don't want Toyota to try and tell me the lift voided my warranty or some crap. Less is more

I plan on snagging that insert too. I like the pro rack and think the less extra hold on bottom will work wonders.

I love that blacked out "TOYOTA". May I ask how you did it? I was going to rattle can it but wasn't sure.
