Agreed! Almost went down this rabbit hole when I thought I wanted a light bar up high, glad I changed my mind. The PRO grill is so popular it's almost refreshing seeing a normal grill.

This was one of the best videos I've seen so far for comparisons. Doesn't go into detailed installation as there are a bunch of videos for that. Personally I'd go knock off if I was going to do it...but I'm going to go the billet grill overlay instead of the pro grill. Much cleaner look too me.

Billet overlay. This is what I'm throwing on mine once I get around to putting it on.

I just ordered mine from TacoVinyl
I found that they offer custom paint on the letters.
So say you have army green - they will paint the TOYOTA letters accordingly.
It was like an $89 upcharge. Not mentioned in the site. Contact customer service…

I decided to buy the OEM one. I bought aftermarket for my Tacoma. It worked and looked fantastic, but the quality wasn’t as good. I had always planned to replace it one day, just never got around to it before I traded the truck in for the 4Runner. Decided to go OEM this time and throw up a little because of the cost. I have no regrets. For stuff like this, I will probably stick to OEM from here on. Suspension however….

I have no complaints about mine. I parked side by side with 2 other Pro's and you can not tell the difference. The gap on the sides measured the same. Only difference was mine didnt have lettering, which is what I wanted in the first place. I also scuffed and sprayed mine with a satin black before install. Total cost with paint and upper grill was $180.

    Hey-
That satin looks great. Ive been vacillating between matte and satin for mine trying to decide. I think that satin is the balance that'll work for me. I got one from TacoVinyl too and notice it’s just black plastic with no paint. Dont wanna take a chance and have it fade. Plus mine came with a hairline scratch on its face.. ☹️
I opted to have them paint the letters and it turned out great, at least i think so…

Wondering- did you clear coat yours after painting it? If so did you use satin for that too and how many coats?

I also ordered from Taco vinyl. When I ordered mine I specified the year(21), it was supposed to come with the notch cut out for the front sensor. It did not, so instead of sending it back, I cut it myself. Other than that, it installed great and still looks great!!8380B43A-AF28-4DC5-82B9-4351D27E3B0D.jpg

No clear coat. Scuffed with steel wool, washed, 3 coats of satin black. Then hit it again after painting, with the 00 steel wool with a soapy water mix (wet sand basically) but very lightly, going full stroke, end to end. The Satin finish almost gives it a clear coat look, but not the color depth if that makes sense...

If you look at the post above this one ( Shallowminded's White Runner) you can see the 2 different blacks between the lower valance and pro grill (could be the lighting or just the pic, not judging, just saying). Since I dont have any other black on mine, I was free to chose what I wanted. I was looking to get it painted to match the Naughty Blue, but wanted to see how this turned out first before I drop $100 of a small piece to get painted.
