Hello! I am looking to do a drain and fill on my transmission soon in my 97 4runner automatic, and I’ve been reading online that I can use dexron III or Toyotas ATF type-T IV, however on my transmission dipstick, it specifically labels “DEXRON II.” What kind of transmission fluid should I use to do the drain and fill? Thanks!

Something labeled Dexron VI since that works with Dexron III, Dexron II, etc. but I'd just grab a jug of Valvoline MaxLife ATF and call it a day.

The one and only. If you're especially worried, read the back of it whether in-person or online and you'll see the fluid specs listed on the back.

that stuff is gods gift to mechanics. I used it in my honda and it loved that stuff.
