I have had a bunch of Toyotas and always felt the product was the best I could buy. Bought my wife a Sienna in early fall and purchased a Gen 6 SR 5 and from the beginning have had real issues with squeaking brakes. Mostly in reverse and starting to be an annoyance to my neighbors. I took to dealership several weeks ago and they said "had to order the fix kit". Went back this morning and was told unavailable. If a manufacture sells a defective product I expect them to work overtime to fix the issues with defect. What goes with this? I have seen other mention of this on hear but have not seen the real cause. Thanks.

The internet has lots of info on " bedding" brakes.
Pick a procedure and try it-might change the issue.

And now I know what bedding in brakes means.
I got new pads last month and did not do this. Did a lot of braking from various speeds though, but not controlled and repetitive.

My guess its that tire shine crap they spray it all over the wheels, rims, rotors. Then it coats them?

i am literally having this problem as well. Only happens in reverse but it is loud. While in florida for the past three months it happened every time i put it in reverse. Now we are home in the chicagoland area it doesnt make any sound at all. So annoying.

Simple fix... don't go to Florida anymore.. just kidding. Ours did it too, mostly reverse like backing out of a parking spot. It was to the point that the wife asked if it was normal for a new vehicle to do that. I have no idea why it stopped, just did. We are coming up to the 'new brake pad' time(5 yrs. old), rotors also. Good luck.

Bought a 2025 TRD sport Premium in November. It started squealing at less than 200 miles. I called around to a few dealers close to me (none are actually CLOSE…about an hour away either direction) and finally found one that knew about the TSB. The wife is there now getting it looked at and hopefully fixed. Fingers crossed.

I know apples to oranges but still the same,I bought a brand new Tundra back in 23 and in reverse my front brakes did the same as you guys.
I was optimistic and didn't really pay attention thinking that maybe it was just some rust on the rotors from the rain the day before, well after a long dry stretch it was still happening.

Well Toyota had implemented a TSB for the 3rd gen Tundras, so I contacted my Stealership and requested them to order the necessary parts and then call me for an appointment.
They changed out front rotors and pads and word is that the part they really needed on original build was "shims" truth or not I dunno.
When I took my truck home I took the tires off and pulled the calipers off and didn't see any shims.

Bottom line is I still got a free brake job done at 31K and no more squeaking.

So I did some minor digging and Toyota has issued a TSB, so if your tired of the embarrassing noise on a brand new vehicle I'd suggest you call your local Stealership and get it remedied.
Here is the active TSB # T-SB-0046-25.

Mods? None. Been there, done that. I like it as-is.
I only have about 2K miles but it has squeaked about 50% of the time that I back out of the garage. Sometimes very minor, other times, not so minor.

Going to wait for a bit to see it it continues and will contact dealer if it does. I doubt that it will fix itself.

Toyota probably found some way to save a few cents by removing a shim or something.

That's what I had hoped for.... 2.5 years later and it didn't fix it self, and honestly it is kind embarrassing for a brand new vehicle it to do this.

Call the Stealership and describe the symptoms remind them that they are aware of this TSB give them the Toyota Special Bulletin number ask them to order the items to complete it and have them notify you for an appointment.

Reminds of when the factory plastic radiator cap on our Tahoe failed and left us stranded. Probably saved Chevy 3 bucks by changing from metal to plastic.

My 5th gen did this same squealing in reverse for the first year or so. Sometimes I still hear it. It seems that humid situations change the friction characteristics of the pads enough to make them vibrate/sing.

This does not require new pads if you ask me. The brakes work fine. Toyota probably made the parts to fit with a bit more clearance than most. Makes it easy for the pads to move as needed and not get hung up by mud/dust/dirt over time. I’m betting that the cleaner/newer the brakes are, the more chance they’ll make noise.

Id hate to risk the dealership touching things if it’s only happening in reverse. I’d rather just put a little dab of the Brake Quiet mastic product between the pad backing and the backing plate/shim that separates the pad from the piston. It’s creates a very thin flexible layer that absorbs the resonance.

If it ain't broke, fix it until it is!

Jokes aside, my 5th generation brakes also squeak for the first 200 ft or so as the rust and dirt on the rotor surface is scrubbed off.
