Tire size question?

Ok so my 96 Anthracite SR5 Limited is stock and has been left alone for 23 years! Have a Nice B grade rear bumper coming. So gonna pull the trigger on a set of 20 inch Limited 5th gen wheels. For street use.
I’m thinking 245/45zr20’s. But would love a little taller tire. Think 50’s would work?

mod #1 Cree H4 led headlights=one went out after two miles.
Mod #2 bull bar= stripped out bolts with neighbors new battery impact gun, had to weld it.
Mod #3 pair of KC 6 inch lights!!
Yes I put the fuse a foot off the battery....

 

Anything larger than 16" wheels & 31" tires will require a 3" suspension lift, body modifications to the front bumper & firewall of the front wheel well. The running boards will need to be removed as well & possibly some of the fender flares. The 20" wheels will be the least expensive part of this modification.

 

Winter tire: 265/70 16
Summer tire: 245/45zr20
The 16’s are one inch taller. Don’t think any modifications are needed...

Just put my B grade rear bumper on. A lot of rust. None on frame. Got the bolts loose newer ones installed. Ready to break-in these GT Radials!!

 

These GT radials are so smooth and quiet. Handles better too. 45 series ZR was a deffinent urban/highway improvement...

 

On the job working on a Sunday to pay for my upgrades!!

 

Gas mileage?

 

Not sure but I haven’t filled up in two weeks. It’s incredible the GT radials use a polyester lining to get a ZR rating. And there’s something with the rubber. It’s a different compound. Check out their snow tires? I’m about to switch back to my Cooper’s for winter.

 

I mean I got the GT Radials for under a hundred each shipped so can’t complain.
