How can you do a cross rotation with only 2 jack stands? Excluding the floor jack as a stand. And for those rotating in their full size spare how did you deal w/ the TPMS sensors?

    Oooh look, another mod.....

To perform a cross rotation with just two jack stands, lift one side of the vehicle at a time, rotating the tires in a "forward cross" pattern, where the left front tire goes to the left rear, the right front goes to the right rear, and then repeat the process on the other side by swapping the rear tires to the opposite front positions; essentially doing a cross rotation in two separate steps, one side at a time with the two jack stands.

Found my answer in the comments. Key is using the spare as a placeholder.

Still interested in hearing if people just ignore their full size spare missing a TPMS sensor as they do a 5 tire rotation.

I just go front to back and don’t include the spare.

Jackstands under frame behind front axles, floor jack under rear pumpkin. Be sure to release torque on all four wheels first….perform swap.

I use the spare as a placeholder, as you stated. I haven’t figured out the 5 tire rotation thing yet, but I have read threads that talk about some trims being able to read all 5 tires if the spare has TPMS in it.

ive been think if I go this route, having all 5 tires with TPMS in them and just leaving the current spare at home while I drive to reset the new locations with the runner.

Found your old thread on this. Thanks. Will look to get a TPMS sensor in my spare. Wondering if I can program this myself using my scan tool and OBD Fusion app.

Put the jack stands under the rear axle then jack the front wheels one at a time from under the control arms. Chock the one front wheel that stays on the ground.

I just take mine to Discount Tires & have them do it for free. Lazy dog that I am. I do check the torque on the lug nuts after I get home.
