I've had some bad luck with the stock Toyo Open Country 265/70R18 tires on my 6th gen TRD Pro. Double flatted coming down a pretty benign dirt road this past weekend. Should have deflated down more - was running at 30 psi. Curious what others would recommend for a sturdier/better off road tire.

I switched from K02s to Nokian outpost nATs, first on my Tacoma and now for the 4R and really like them. Haven’t left me in a pickle regardless of terrain or season.

You can read tire posts by hundreds of owners by searching this and the other runner forum. Same for suggestions on tire pressure off road. Your intended use of your runner needs stated.

Mickey Thompson Baja. I have Toyo AT3s ((love them) but was at an off road shop and two mechanics there said they would only run MTs on their rigs. They look sharp as well.

Try deflating down in the teens. Upper teens if you just want to soften the ride over washboard or have the ability to go faster for longer. If you really need some grip while crawling, sand dunes or going slower for longer, I'd go down to 14 maybe 15 PSI, that's what I use in Moab for example. 30 PSI is what I run daily driving. I like a slightly softer ride at 28-30 and fuel mileage isn't on my radar. Some people like to run higher, and I may choose higher PSI if on a long road trip let's say.

But search like they said ^^. See what you find and agree with. I'd refrain to tell you you need to spend $$ on new tires if you haven't tried other options first.

Well said. I was in Moab recently and went down to 18psi and it was fine but I could have easily went down to 15 for a more smoother ride

What tires do you have? Standard load i'm guessing for this low of a pressure on the street?

I run LT Load C tires and street pressure calls for ~40 psi. I also like running slightly less for the street (~38 psi) unless I go on a road trip.
On regular dirt roads I'll air down to 20 psi for comfort. For actual off roading, i'm at 17 psi. And if it's a challenging trail I'll go down to 15 psi (never went down lower than that). Maybe if I ever go to the sand dunes I will if needed but I dont want to break a bead

I use a simple tire depth gauge to check my tire wear. I measure inner and outer tread and tread center depth on each tire. Sweet spot for even wear is 31-33 psi cold (seasonally adjusted).
Also gives good ride on pavement. I run stock size AT tires XL rated.

Love my Duratrac RT's with Kevlar, but depends on if your focusing on off road only or something more well rounded for snow too.

Do you have the weight? Are your shocks upgraded?
A very impressive tire. Where is the kevlar-tread or casing/sidewall

I think they are 46lbs in the XL load i got, only 1.5lb over my C load. No upgraded shocks, Kevlar is within the tread and sidewall.

    I did a review here: https://www.4runners.com/threads/new-goodyear-duratrac-rt-review.42415/
