This is stock tire size for everything but the Limited.

But the answer is go somewhere else. Costco may not accept the liability for installing non-stock tire sizes, but there are plenty of local shops you could call.

What size is on the truck now?

265/70/17s wanted something a litle taller . they added a new rule if you bring the truck with a bigger tire they will make an exception

    I assume you mean 285/70R17

    (Based on my experience) On your TRD PRO if you have;

    1) A spacer on top of factory suspension or any other lift in front
    2) Cut / shave off little on the bottom of the bumper
    3) Push the fender liner forward
    4) Removed or heated and push back the mud flap

You are most likely ready to fit 285/70R17 on factory TRD Pro wheels. Discount tire did the install for me.

Might wanna keep an eye on the tire size. I have fit 32.76 in Toyo Open country 285/70R17 SL & 32.8in Nokian Outpost 285/70R17 SL. I can't be sure of larger 33in Yokohama Geolander AT4 285/70R17 SL or even larger tires in Load E class.

Going from stock size P-metric tires to 33" load range E Duratracs, I went from 16.0 to 15.5 mpg, so minimal change from the already shitty stock mileage.

Same. My mileage wasn't bad enough yet so I went to 34s to fix it. Now I get 14.

OP jokes aside the stock size is 265/70/17. A lot of people just go to aggressive looking all terrains in that size. Costco won't give you grief for that.

If you want bigger tires (285/70/17) you may have to find a different tire shop and be ready to do some light trimming to some plastic pieces if needed.

There are a ton of forum posts on this subject if you go that route.

Having gone down this road… if this is a daily driver, I recommend sticking to the stock tire size.

I’m assuming you have 17x7” TRD Pro wheels… I would consider going with 255/75 tires. Slightly larger than stock with no fitment issues.

I went with 285/70 SL Toyos on TRD Pro wheels and do not care for the fitment… basically it’s too wide a tire for that particular rim size. Otherwise, the tire looks good and “fits” with basic trimming that your Pro already should have. I just don’t care for the tracking and tread wear. I think most people are okay with it though, but I feel there’s better options for a daily driver.

OK, changing my opinion yet again the Falken Wildpeaks have a 65,000 tread life warranty and weigh 47.6lbs VS the Bridgestone dueler at ascents 60,000, weighing 46.2lbs

Dueler..just say no. They are OEM on a few vehicles. Ive had a couple of sets. Overprice garbage! Falkens now seem to be comparable price to other better brands. Maybe look at Toyo instead in similar specs/ load range. Having driven several different tires on these trucks C range for LT seems the best vs. E only on weight. Otherwise XL isnt to bad on non LT tires. I also have two sets of Es.. they are very heavy.

No not those specifically. Had other Duellers, they have been making this OEM type brand for a couple of decades, theres lots of variants. I found a couple I had which came OEM to be really bad at just about everything. Otherwise I am mostly a Bridgestone fan or at least use to be for their old Potenza type sport tires for cars. Different altogether though. I think theres very few OEM tires out there that are any good, most are just made for CAFE type ratings on fuel economy and cost sacrificing other stuff. Funny as they generally are not cheap to replace either.

Maybe have a look at 255s as well. Some like the pizza cutters in some conditions. If you can keep the tire in the 34-38 lb range thats best. Ive got one which is almost 58 pounds, its very heavy. Also factor in rim weight for the overall. Just figure out what you want them for and get the best lightest fitment in a decent brand.

G one more? in your opinion, is the dueler ascent just another variant of the same old tire or something better? Mostly highway, some lite off-road at this point

Preface: I don’t think TireRack.com is the supreme authority on tires but the way the website groups A/T tires into categories can be helpful.

    Their categories are:
    • On road all-terrain - Focused on on-road traction with some off-road capability. Reduced off-road prowess for on-road comfort.
    • Off road All-terrain - Capable both on-and off-road, with much more off-road toughness than highway tires. A balance of traction on both paved and unpaved roads, with the potential trade-off of comfort and noise.
    • Rugged all-terrain - Aggressive aesthetics with moderate off-road capability. A balance of traction on both paved and unpaved roads, with the potential trade-off of comfort and noise.
    • Off road max reaction - Focused on maximum off-road traction at the expense of on-road civility and wear life. Modest winter traction. Mostly Mud-terrain tires.
The often-derided Bridgestone Duelers that come stock on many 4Runners are not the same as the Dueler A/T Ascents that you are considering.

Do you plan to drive off road? Does your choice of tire focus more on the look than off-road performance? The reason I ask is because the Bridgestone Ascents and the Falken Wildpeaks are different animals.

That's helpfully, i have watched a lot of videos and read a lot of links in the forums ,of course I like the look of the more aggressive tires but honestly they will spend 90%of there life on pavement.

I second this. I rock 255/80/17 Falken WildPeak A/T4W Load Range E. I’m a little bit of everything kind of guy so these work well but are quite heavy. They’re awesome, and have no rub at full lock but you’ll still have to do some slight trimming to the bumper and fender liner. Also don’t expect to have any difference in gas mileage when compared to a 285/70/17. You’re going up in size regardless, and that weight makes a big difference.

From someone who’s played the tire game a time or two, either option is equally valid but just keep in mind the benefits of one over the other that meet YOUR needs.
I chose 255/80/17 because I’m with no lift, wanted to minimize rubbing, and liked a OEM+ kind of look. Without beadlocks, I’m also not going to see any contact patch difference between one over the other. (Even then, it’s super minimal at extremely low PSI)

Here’s a side profile of mine for viewing pleasure or disgust. No judgement either way.
