The dealership added oil conditioner and fuel cleaner with the oil change.

Yes believe it or not lots of companies have teams. Especially in manufacturing working on issues related to failures and quality control.

are you like a ninja or something that goes it alone on everything? Or maybe you have never worked with engineers in a manufacturing business.

I hope for your sake you didn’t think teams was a reference to MS teams.

It’s allegedly only 1% failures yet some people have had multiple engine failures. How’s that math work?

Come on bro. They said 1% . No company has ever mislead anyone ever in history. Now let me go get some more Enron stock before I go to bed.

    No Idea.
Additives and conditioners should ALWAYS be used sparingly. I do run some seafoam within 150 miles of an oil change and some every few tanks of gas just to keep things running smoothly. That will never be in my crankcase for more than 150-200 miles though. It’s just asking for trouble running it long term.

I too was scammed by the Toyota dealer. Like many on here, I have a service contract which give me free oil changes every 10k mi and despite this I elect to perform my own maintenance. I had just completed my 30k mi service on the 4Runner and took it in because I noticed some power steering fluid leaking on the CV boot. I took it into the dealer who I asked to only perform the repair on the power steering line as all the fluids had just been changed. I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and equally important I ensure the filter housing/drain plug are torqued to spec. When I get the invoice I see that they did the oil change and billed Toyota for it. (In addition to the nearly $2k to Toyota for the power steering line). I won’t be going to that dealer again.

That said I do pour a bottle of Techron into the fuel tank once a month.

I'm not sure you were 'scammed', the fact that you didn't have to pay for it is good for you, but someone's paying for it. The real thing I see here is the dealership cannot be counted on to follow orders, there may have been a reason you told them specifically what to do and what not to do, you're right, don't go back. After we used up our 'free' oil changes we haven't been back to the dealership for anything, with the exception of looking for a nice used pickup.

Well we can all imagine I guess... Check your premise. What exactly are you trying to say?
