Some people use the perceived anonymity online to exercise their worst possible persona.

Even the 5k OCI, the way so many Toyota owners drive(a few miles away from work/store), after 5k the oil is more than ready to change. His stated goal was to help the car make it to 300k miles, not to be the cheapest possible owner.

Absolutely. Ive been through my share of mechanics - there was a "popular" place by the house. I had two kinda bad experiences before the internet. Then I found Randy and he did really good work. I noticed he worked on old muscle cars to brand new BMWs. I actually found him because Discount Tires had to of put the red loctite on one stud. Went back to them and they sent me to Randy to do the repair.

Good video. Most people don't understand what 4WD means and think it is the same thing as AWD.

You’re 100% wrong. I live by his shop and he works. Look at the selfie I took with him. He is wearing an old t-shit. When I approached him he was actually working on a car outside

Of course he works and his booking register is probably full way into the future.
That is a big workshop he has . Can't possibly fund it making random YouTube videos.

He put out a video a while ago describing what it was like leaving working at a dealership and trying to start his own shop and all the troubles he went through trying to do it. He seems like a nice, hard working guy to me. I wish his shop was close to me.

Plenty of people make money away from their daily routine. You’re probably working with them too. I guess having an additional income is a source of jealousy for many. All of the projects I’ve seen him on overseeing the result was clearly discussed and the resolution was very well executed. If you’re a person that is seriously curious about the project you’re working on and can appreciate the details about the resolution you will have no problem with him. His thinking is not how people diagnose and resolve problems today. He’s capable of understanding problems and solving problems using the technology available and using his brain. You cannot use your brain and deviate from the manufacturer instructions if you’ve got vehicles in line behind you and the scanner says do this.

Now we are talking. Great video!
Always insightful to watch him work.
It pains me to see the underside of that 4runner though. The rust is relentless.

The front diff rust was a pain to watch.
I feel happy that I have rear diff relocation not to have it seized.

I really enjoyed the CCN early videos. His 5th gen 4Runner series was great in that it celebrated what we love about the 5th gen. He has since reviewed a 6th gen (limited and TRD Pro) and I would have liked to see him review a more common model such as TRD Off road or even the SR5. He kept saying the 6th gen was better in that it was more car. He would then compare it to the previous model Tacoma and also claim the plastics were better because the car was made in Japan (would have liked for this to be elaborated upon). We aren’t caring how it compares to the previous model Tacoma but rather the 5th gen 4Runner which has been what we all want to know. Is the quality of the 6th gen parallel to the 5th gen. David from Automotive Press (former Toyota engineer) does a pretty good job at comparing the 5th and 6th gen in one of his videos.
That said I do like the CCN (his earlier posts I appreciated much more). He reviewed a 2015 Camry (which is the same car my dad drives) where he was rebuilding the engine on account of the owner following the 10k oil change recommendation. Seemed relevant given the current manufacturer recs.

This was one was good. Glad he was positive and helpful. Poor 4R though, the rust will eventually eat through and make a mess. The front diff...yikes.

Thx, this was a good one. Wish I had it when I did the 30k service this last summer. But will use it when I do the 60k for sure.
