I figured I'd start here since I just made the jump over.

What's up everyone, I'm Jeff from Cleveland. Finally convinced the wife to buy a 4Runner so I have something more comfortable to ride in when I don't drive the Tacoma.

We have a 2018 MGM Limited.

Took me all of 14 hours to get her on board with developing a tune for the thing (lets be honest the pedal needs help). Today we flashed the first experimental files with great success.

I look forward to being a part of the community over here as well as continuing my involvement with the TacomaWorld people. I'll definitely learn a thing or two while on this forum and hope to spread some knowledge of my own.

Edit: If you look closely you'll see my stalker in the photo

How much tune do you expect from an ECM flash of a naturally aspirated engine?

Unsure on the 4.0L since we haven't gotten around to finalizing a version or scheduling a dyno run down the street. However on the Tacoma we are pulling around 21+ HP and 18+ TQ. Granted the 3.5L is a turd and that 6spd trans needs all the help it can get.

The goal of the 4R for us is to increase the throttle response and reduce the delay between pedal and power. So far we can keep the ECO light on all the way up to 80% engine load. Full throttle has a bit more noticeable pick up than before.

If anyone has VF Tune from a previous Tacoma ownership or anything, please let me know and I'll get your ECU ID and send over a file to test. We know 4Rs don't need much help but any improvement is good

Hey TermLimits! I've read good things about your Tacoma 3.5L tune. I currently run the Vivid Racing Stage 1 4runner tune with 91 octane. Throttle pedal response is improved and it holds 4th / 5th longer on grades. Getting 21 mpg highway in Colorado with a 2" lift and stock size all terrains. Interested to see what you can do with the 4.0 and how results compare to Vivid!

What 4R ECU IDs can you support at this time with the test file? Thanks!

(Note to anyone considering the Vivid tune: The dyno on their site was done with an Agency Power cold air intake. The intake was present for both the stock tune dyno and the subsequent VR tune dyno, so it's not really cheating. But the intake may have increased relative gains.)
