I was perusing that forum the other day, and am not able to post, as I have never joined. So I click on 'create an account', go through all the steps, hit 'submit', and get a screen that says 'you will be sent an email that will allow you to activate your account' or some such thing.

Usually when you sign up for something like that, they are all over you like a chicken on a june bug. All I get are crickets...no email, no instructions, no account activation link, nada.

If anyone is a member of that forum, is this usual? Do I not want to belong to that forum anyway??

I posted there for a long time. I hardly go there any more now. There's a lot of good historical posts there for DIY stuff, that's about the use I get out of it. They got hacked a couple of years ago (which is when I created my account here) and the admin's response to it was....disappointing. It took them forever to fix it, there was 0 communication, and the forum software they upgraded to is frankly terrible. The community managed to drive away all of the moderators, and there were some good ones so it's pretty much a free-for-all now. There were some good people over there and probably still are, but I think I like this site more. The forum software is much more friendly here anyway.

I've been perusing it for a long time, same as here. I don't like that place. I signed up here (not there), and honestly, this site is much more aesthetically pleasing to my eye. Plus , you guys are pretty cool.

Thanks for all the feedback. Doesn't sound like a forum I need to join. I had enough of those in my Jeeping days.

If I finally do see an 'activate membership' email, I'll delete it. Doesn't sound like they'll ever send one though.

Garbage website. If they had the layout of this forum, 100% would be on there all day. It’s literally a nightmare to navigate that forum in any capacity. I wish this forum here had the same population as tacomaworld does.

I signed up there, and I cant make posts. It says my account is awaiting approval or something like that. I can comment but I can't post, its weird. I like or am more use to this forums interface.

Amen to the above. There are some rather snarky folks over there. Flaming is a way of life for some

YT was the same, was great at first and then went to crap due to overbearing mods and a-holes who should have been banned but weren't, but has gotten better recently. Not even close to the numbers it used to have. I like this site better though. Much easier to navigate.

I go there basically to play the photo game. And to throw newspaper in the some of the dumpster fires.

Maybe we should start a photo game here; it's a good bit of fun but has been languishing for lack of players and for butt hurt.

I'm curious about this Photo game.. How does it work?

It's basically a wild card game. The current "winner" posts a challenge, for example "your 4Runner in front of a red mailbox" and then the first person to post a picture of their 4Runner in front of a red mailbox gets to make the next challenge. There's been some oddball challenges over the years, sometimes the game gets snarled for a month or so, sometimes we bicker about shit, sometimes we just bullshit... but generally it is an enjoyable game that could benefit from more players. In fact there are so few players we've kind of allowed non-4Runner vehicles to play... I sometimes drop a photo with my cop car...

Rules are on pg 1 and then the most current tag is on the last page. I always encourage new players to read the rules on p 1 and then skip to the last 5 pages or so to get an idea of the ebb and flow of the game.

Update - did finally get an account activation email, and went ahead and joined, just to be able to ask questions. Most replies have been quick and helpful.

I have to say, though, t4r.org is a PITA to navigate, and I cannot upload any photos no matter what I try. I won't spend much time there.
